Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O people! You recite this verse: «يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ» "O you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you follow the right guidance, no harm can come to you from those who are in error." (5-Al-Ma'idah:105) And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When people see an oppressor and do not stop him from his oppression, it is likely that Allah will inflict a general punishment upon them all."

Sayyiduna Thalabah bin Hakam (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The enemy’s goats fell into our hands, we seized them and put our pots on the fire. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by the pots, he ordered (them to be poured out), so they were poured out. Then he said:“Looting is not permissible.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I grab you by your waists to save you from the Fire (pulling you back) and I say: Save yourselves from Hell, save yourselves from transgressing the limits. When I pass away, I will be your predecessor and I will meet you at the Pond. Whoever reaches there will be successful. Some people will reach there but will be pushed to the left side. I will say: O my Lord! These are my followers. It will be said: You do not know what innovations they promoted, they turned back on their heels and became apostates."

Ata bin Yasar narrates from an Ansari man that an Ansari told him: I kissed my wife while fasting during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I sent my wife to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask him about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Messenger of Allah himself does this." When my wife returned and told me this hadith, I said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is sometimes given special concessions, so go back and ask (for clarification). So she went back and said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is given special concessions in some matters, (what should we do?) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am the one who fears Allah the most and knows His limits the best."

Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You people bring your disputes to me, and I am only a human being. It is possible that one of you presents his argument more clearly than the other, and I judge according to what I hear. (Remember) if I give someone a decision in his favor that actually belongs to his brother, then he should not take it, because I am cutting off a piece of fire for him and giving it to him, and he will bring it with him on the Day of Resurrection."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am only a human being. You bring your disputes to me, and it is possible that one of you may present his arguments more clearly than the other. I judge according to what I hear. (Remember that) if I give someone a right that belongs to his brother, then he should not take it, because in that case, I am giving him a piece of fire."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What do you think about such-and-such laborer?" I said: He is poor, just like ordinary people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What do you think about such-and-such man?" I said: He is a high-ranking chief. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A laborer of this kind is better than a land full or thousands of chiefs of that kind." I said: O Messenger of Allah! That man is also (a chief of that kind), and you show him great hospitality? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is the chief of his people, and I treat him kindly to win his heart."

Sayyiduna ‘Irbad bin Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We camped with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Khaybar, and the Companions were also with him. The chief of Khaybar was a very rebellious and deceitful man. He turned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said:“O Muhammad! Are you the one who will slaughter our donkeys, eat our fruits, and seize our women?”The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry and said:“O Ibn ‘Awf! Mount your horse and announce: Beware! Only a believer will enter Paradise, and (also announce) gather for prayer.”The people gathered, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in prayer. Then he stood up and said:“Can any man, reclining on his couch, imagine that Allah has only forbidden those things which are mentioned in the Noble Qur’an? Beware! By Allah! I have given some commands, offered admonition, and prohibited some things. (The rulings I have stated) are as many as those in the Noble Qur’an or even more. Allah, the Exalted, has not made it lawful for you to enter the houses of the People of the Book without permission, to strike their women, or to eat their fruits, as long as they continue to fulfill the obligations that are upon them.”

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mu'awiyah bin Khudayj (may Allah be pleased with him) says that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! Which of the forbidden things are permissible for me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. The man repeated the question three times, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. Then he said: "Who is the one asking the question?" The man replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! It is I." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) poked with his finger and said: "Leave that which your heart dislikes."

Sayyiduna Ya’la ibn Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Whoever unlawfully seizes even a handspan of land on the earth, Allah will make him responsible to dig it out until he reaches the last (layer) of the seventh earth, then on the Day of Resurrection, until the people’s judgment is concluded, he will be made to wear it as a collar.”
