It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to me and said: Advise me with some counsel. I said: You have asked me for the same thing that I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) before you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“I advise you to fear Allah, for it is the root of all goodness. Also, be diligent in jihad, for it is the monasticism of Islam. And be constant in the remembrance of Allah and the recitation of the Qur’an, for it is a means of mention for you in the heavens.”

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was on a journey, stopped somewhere, and a man also stopped beside him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned towards him and said: "Shall I not tell you about the best part of the Qur'an?" Then he recited «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» to him.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you recite «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ» (i.e., Surah Al-Fatihah), then recite «بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ» , because this Surah is Umm al-Qur'an, Umm al-Kitab, and Sab‘ al-Mathani (i.e., the seven oft-repeated verses), and «بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ» is one of its verses."

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Recite the Qur'an, for indeed it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection. Recite the two beautiful surahs, Al-Baqarah and Aal Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they are two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds with outstretched wings, pleading for those who recited them. Recite Surah Al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing and abandoning it is a cause of regret, and the people of falsehood cannot overcome it."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates both as a mawquf and marfu' hadith: "Everything has a hump, and the hump of the Qur'an is Surah al-Baqarah. And when Satan hears the recitation of Surah al-Baqarah, he leaves the house in which this Surah is being recited."

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite Surah Al-Baqarah in your houses, for indeed, the house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited, Satan does not enter it."

Yahya bin Abu Kathir says: Ibn Abi narrated to me that his father told him that his dates were gathered in the threshing floor, and he used to look after them. He noticed that they were decreasing, so he started keeping watch. Suddenly, a creature appeared that looked like a boy about to reach puberty. He greeted him with salam, and the creature replied to the greeting. He asked: "Who are you, a jinn or a human?" The creature said: "I am a jinn." He said: "Give me your hand." The creature gave his hand, and it was like the hand and hair of a dog. He asked him: "Is this how the jinn are created?" The creature said: "The jinn know that among them are those even more repulsive than me." He asked: "What made you take (the dates)?" The creature said: "It reached us that you like to give charity, so we wanted to take something from your grain." He asked: "How can we be safe from you?" The creature said: "By this verse, meaning Ayat al-Kursi." The next day, his father went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him the whole story. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The wicked one has spoken the truth."

Ata says: I and Ubaid bin Umair went to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Abdullah bin Umair said: Tell us about any amazing act of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that you witnessed. She began to weep and said: One night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said,“Aisha! Let me worship my Lord.”I said: By Allah! I love your closeness, but I also love that which pleases you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got up, performed ablution, and then began to pray. He continued to weep until his lap became wet, then he wept and kept weeping until the ground became wet. Meanwhile, our master Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to inform about the Fajr prayer. When he found the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) weeping, he said: O Messenger of Allah! Why do you weep so much, when Allah Almighty has forgiven your past and future sins? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Should I not be a grateful servant of Allah? Tonight, some verses have been revealed to me; woe to the one who recites them but does not reflect upon them. The verses are: «إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ . . .» ‏‏‏‏ (3-Aal Imran:190).”

Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf as it was revealed, it will become a light for him from his place of residence to Makkah on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever recites the last ten verses of this Surah and then the Dajjal appears, he will not be harmed by him. And whoever performs ablution and then recites this supplication: «سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنْتَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ» ‘O Allah! You are pure with Your praises, I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except You, I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.’ then these words are written on a scroll and sealed (for safekeeping), which cannot be broken until the Day of Resurrection.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: " «تبارك الذى» that is, Surah Al-Mulk is a preventer of the punishment of the grave."
