Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever says: 'Subhan Allah (Allah is Pure), Alhamdulillah (All praise is for Allah), La ilaha illallah (There is no deity but Allah), Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest),' then Allah, the Exalted, will plant a tree in Paradise for him for each word."

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sitting with the people who remember Allah from the Fajr prayer until sunrise is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from the descendants of Isma'il (peace be upon him), and likewise, sitting with those who remember Allah from the Asr prayer until sunset is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Juwayriyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to her early in the morning after performing the prayer, while she was sitting on her prayer mat. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned after the time of Duha had passed, she was still sitting there. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: "Are you still in the same state as I left you?" She replied: "Yes." So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "After leaving you, I recited four phrases three times. If they were weighed against all that you have been reciting since the beginning of the day, they would outweigh them. (And they are:) «سبحان الله وبحمده، عدد خلقه، ورضا نفسه، وزنة عرشه، ومداد كلماته» 'We declare the purity of Allah and His praise, as many times as the number of His creation, according to His pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne, and equal to the ink (or abundance) of His words.'"

Ata bin Abi Rabah says that I saw Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari and Sayyiduna Jabir bin Umair Ansari, may Allah be pleased with them both, competing in archery. One of them sat down out of weariness, so the other said to him: "Have you become lazy?" I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Everything besides the remembrance of Allah is futile and useless, except for these four things: (1) A man walking between two targets, (2) training a horse, (3) playing and joking with one's wife, and (4) learning to swim."

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“ «لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّـهُ» is the most virtuous remembrance, and «اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ» is the best word of gratitude.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most excellent word is that which I and the previous prophets have said on the evening of the Day of Arafah (and it is this): «لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد، وهو على كل شيء قدير» ... 'There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion, to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things.'"

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked, "Which speech (remembrance) is the best?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "That which Allah, the Exalted, has chosen for His servants... ." «سبحان الله وبحمده» ."

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Sadi bin ‘Ajlan Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Shall I not tell you of a remembrance better than the continuous remembrance of night and day? Then remember in this way: I declare the purity of Allah as many times as the number of His creation. I declare the purity of Allah as much as would fill His creation. I declare the purity of Allah as many times as the number of things in the earth and the heavens. I declare the purity of Allah as much as would fill what is in the earth and the heavens. I declare the purity of Allah as much as would fill His creation. I declare the purity of Allah as many times as the number of things He has counted in His Book, and I declare the purity of Allah as much as would fill everything. Then you should say «اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ» in the same way (i.e., in the supplication, replace «سبحان الله» with «اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ» and complete the supplication).”

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man who intended to travel came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Advise me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I advise you to fear Allah and to say «‏‏‏‏الله اكبر» at every elevated place."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and complained about her household chores and requested a servant. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We do not have any servants. However, shall I not guide you to something that is better for you than a servant? When you lie down on your bed, say «سبحان الله» thirty-three times, «الحمد لله» thirty-three times, and «الله اكبر» thirty-four times."
