Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Considering ablution obligatory only after discharge from front or back
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent a man to an Ansari person (to call him), so he came while water (of bathing) was dripping from his head. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Perhaps we hurried you (in calling you)?" He replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When there is haste or (for some other reason) there is no ejaculation, then only ablution (wudu) is obligatory upon you (ghusl is not obligatory)." (But this ruling is abrogated.)
Helping a companion perform ablution is permissible
Narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on a journey, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to relieve himself. (When the Prophet returned,) Mughirah began to pour water for him (over his blessed limbs), and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ablution, that is, he washed his mouth and hands, wiped his head, and wiped over his socks (as well).
Reciting Quran after breaking ablution without renewing it
`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that he spent a night in the house of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) wife, Umm al-Mu’minin Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) (and she was his maternal aunt). (Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says:) I lay down across the width of the bed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his wife Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) lay down along its length. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) slept until, when half the night had passed, or a little before or after it, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up and sat, wiping the traces of sleep from his blessed face with his hand. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran. After that, he went to a hanging water-skin, performed ablution from it thoroughly, and then stood up to pray. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I also got up and did as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had done. Then I stood on his left side, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his right hand on my head, took hold of my ear and twisted it, and made me stand on his right side. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak‘ahs, then two rak‘ahs, then two rak‘ahs, then two rak‘ahs, then two rak‘ahs, then two rak‘ahs, then he prayed Witr. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lay down until the mu’adhdhin came to him, so he stood up and prayed two light (Sunnah of Fajr) rak‘ahs, then he went out and prayed the morning prayer.
Wiping the entire head in ablution is necessary
A person said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), "Can you show me how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to perform ablution?" Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Yes, I can show you." Then he called for water and poured it on his hand, then washed his hands twice, then rinsed his mouth three times and put water into his nose and blew it out, then washed his face three times, then washed both his hands up to the elbows twice, then wiped his head with both his hands, that is, he brought them forward and then back. He started from the front part of the head and took both hands to the nape, then brought them back to where he had started. Then he washed both his feet.
Using leftover water from others’ ablution
Narrated Sayyiduna Abu Juhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him): (One day) the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us at midday, and water for ablution was brought to him. So, he performed ablution. When he had finished ablution, the people began to take the leftover water from his ablution and started rubbing it on their faces and eyes. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) offered two rak‘ahs of Zuhr and two rak‘ahs of ‘Asr (shortened), and in front of him a spear (i.e., a lance) was fixed as a sutrah (barrier).
Saidna Sa’ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) says that my maternal aunt took me to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The son of my sister (this boy) is ill." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on my head and prayed for blessings for me. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution, and I drank the water that remained from his ablution. Then I stood behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I saw the Seal of Prophethood, which was between his two shoulders and was like the knob of a canopy.
A man performing ablution with his wife
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), men and women used to perform ablution together from the same vessel.
Prophet sprinkling leftover ablution water on an unconscious person
Narrated Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to visit me when I was so ill that I could not understand anything. So he performed ablution and sprinkled the leftover water of his ablution over me, and I regained consciousness. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Who will inherit from me? I have only one kalalah (distant relative) as an heir." Then the verse of inheritance was revealed.
Performing ablution and bath from a bowl is permissible
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when the time for prayer came, the person whose house was nearby went (to his house to perform ablution), and a few people remained. Then a stone vessel (container) was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in which there was water, and the vessel was not spacious enough for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to spread his palm in it. So all the people performed ablution (with that small amount of water). (The narrator Humayd says) We asked (Anas, may Allah be pleased with him), how many people were you (at that time)? He said, eighty or even more than eighty.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for a vessel (bowl) in which there was water, then he washed his both hands and blessed face in it, and rinsed his mouth in it as well.
