“When two groups among you were about to lose heart, but Allah was their protector.”(Surah Al Imran: 122)
It is narrated from the conqueror of Persia, Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: I saw two men in the Battle of Uhud with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), wearing white clothes and fighting fiercely on his behalf. I had never seen them before nor after that.
The conqueror of Persia, Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the day of Uhud took arrows from his quiver and placed them before me and said:“(O Sa’d [may Allah be pleased with him] ) Shoot arrows, may my parents be sacrificed for you.”
“You have no say in the matter...”(Surah Al Imran: 128)
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was wounded on the day of Uhud. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "How can a people ever prosper who have wounded their Prophet?" Then this verse was revealed: "O Prophet! You have no authority in the matter." (Surah Al-Imran: 128)
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) used to supplicate in the last rak'ah of the Fajr prayer after bowing: "O Allah! Send curse upon so-and-so, and so-and-so, and so-and-so." At that time, Allah revealed this verse: "It is not for you (O Prophet) to decide; whether He turns in mercy to them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers." (Surah Al-Imran: 128)
The martyrdom of Hamza (RA), the chief of martyrs
‘Ubaidullah bin ‘Adi bin Khiyar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he said to Wahshi,“Will you not inform us about the killing (martyrdom) of Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him)?”He said,“Yes, why should I not tell you? The story of the killing of Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) is as follows: Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) killed Tu‘aymah bin ‘Adi bin Khiyar on the day of Badr. My master Jubair bin Mut‘im (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me, ‘If you kill Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) in revenge for my uncle, you will be free.’ Wahshi said, ‘When the people of Quraysh set out in the year of the battle of Uhud, and ‘Uyunayn is one of the mountains of Uhud, and between Uhud and it is a valley, I also set out with the fighters. When the people had formed their battle lines, Siba‘ (bin ‘Abdul-‘Uzza) came out from the ranks and said,“Is there anyone to fight?”Wahshi says that the leader of the martyrs, Hamza bin ‘Abdul-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), came out to face him and said,“O Siba‘! O son of Umm Anmar, the woman who used to circumcise women, do you oppose Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?”Wahshi said,“Then he attacked Siba‘, and Siba‘ perished as if he had never existed.”Wahshi said,“Then I lay in ambush for Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) behind a rock. When he came near me, I threw my weapon at him, and it struck him below the navel in such a way that it pierced through his buttocks. Wahshi said,“That was his last moment.”When all the Quraysh returned to Makkah, I also returned with them and stayed in Makkah. When Islam spread in Makkah (after the conquest of Makkah), I went to Ta’if. When the people of Ta’if sent envoys to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), it was said to me that he does not harm the envoys. So I went with them to the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When he saw me, he said,“Are you Wahshi?”I replied,“Yes.”He said,“Was it you who martyred Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him)?”I replied,“Yes, what the people have told you is the truth (i.e., I killed him at the command of my master).”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,“Can you hide your face from me?”Wahshi says,“I (got up and) went out from his presence.”After the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when Musaylimah the Liar appeared (i.e., claimed prophethood), I thought I would go to the Muslims, perhaps I could kill Musaylimah and thus avenge Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). Wahshi said,“I went out with those people (whom Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) had sent), and Musaylimah’s situation was what it was (i.e., he had a large group with him).”Wahshi says,“Once I saw Musaylimah standing in a gap in a wall, looking like a gray camel with disheveled hair. I threw the same spear (with which I had martyred Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him)) at his chest, and it pierced through both his shoulders. Then an Ansari ran towards Musaylimah and struck his skull with a sword (i.e., severed his head).”
The wounds the Prophet (SAW) received on the day of Uhud
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pointed towards his four teeth and said: "Allah's wrath is upon the people who did this to their Prophet, and also upon the people whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) killed in the way of Allah (without prescribed punishment or retribution)."
Allah’s saying:“Those who obeyed Allah and the Messenger...”(Surah Al Imran)
Narrated by Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her): When, on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had suffered what was destined for him and the polytheists had retreated, the Prophet (peace be upon him), fearing that they might return, said: "Who will go after these disbelievers?" Upon hearing this, seventy companions accepted the command of the Prophet (peace be upon him). (The narrator of the hadith, Urwah, says) Among them were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both).
About the Battle of Khandaq (Ahzab)
Narrated Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): We were digging the trench (during the Battle of the Trench) when suddenly a very hard patch of earth came up. Everyone went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! A very hard patch of earth has come up in the trench." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "I will come myself and remove it." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came, and there were stones tied to his stomach. For three days we had remained hungry and thirsty. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) struck the earth with a pickaxe, and as soon as he struck it, the earth became soft.
Sayedna Sulaiman bin Surad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of the Battle of Ahzab: "Now we will attack the disbelievers and they will not be able to attack us."
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "There is no deity except Allah, He is alone, Who made His army (the Muslims) victorious, helped His servant (Muhammad, peace be upon him), and He alone defeated the disbelievers. After Allah, there is nothing (that is, everything will perish and only Allah is 'The First and The Last')."
