The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and Allah’s saying:“Allah was pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you under the tree.”
It is narrated from Amir al-Mu’minin Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was traveling with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at night during a journey. He asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) something, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not reply to him. Then (again) he asked, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not reply. He asked again, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) still did not reply. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to himself,“O Umar! May your mother weep for you! You asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) three times, but he did not reply to you.”Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says,“I spurred my camel and went ahead of the Muslims. I was afraid that some command regarding me might be revealed in the Qur’an. I had not stayed long when I heard a caller calling me. I became even more afraid that something might have been revealed in the Qur’an about me. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him with salam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Tonight a surah has been revealed to me which is more beloved to me than all that upon which the sun rises.’ Then he recited this verse: ‘Indeed (O Prophet!), We have given you a clear victory.’ (Surah al-Fath: 1)”

Narrated by Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him): In the year of Hudaybiyyah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out with more than a thousand companions. When he reached Dhul-Hulaifah, he put garlands on the sacrificial animals and marked their humps by cutting them, and there he assumed the Ihram for Umrah. He also sent a spy from the tribe of Khuza’ah (to bring news about the Quraysh), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued advancing. When he reached the place of Ghadeer al-Ash-shat, the spy came to him and informed him that the Quraysh had gathered armies to fight him, and these armies were taken from various tribes. They would all fight against him and prevent him from reaching the House of Allah and would not let him go there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked:“O people! Advise me (what should be done). Do you think I should attack the families of the disbelievers who intend to prevent us from the House of Allah? If they confront us, Allah is Most Great and Mighty, Who has saved the spy from the evil of the polytheists. And if they cannot confront us, we will leave them like those who have been routed and fled.”Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! We have only come with the intention of the House of Allah; we do not want to kill or loot anyone. You proceed, and if anyone stops us, then we will fight. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Proceed in the name of Allah.”

Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that his father (Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) sent him to bring his horse which was with an Ansari man. (On the way) he saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was taking the pledge of allegiance from the people under a tree, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was not aware of this. So he (i.e., Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both) pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then went to get the horse and brought it to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who was (wearing armor), putting on his weapons. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) told him that the people were pledging allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) under the tree. (Then) both of them went until Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). This is (the) incident (because of) which people say that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) accepted Islam before Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah, we were also with him. He (peace be upon him) performed Tawaf, so we also performed Tawaf with him. Then he (peace be upon him) offered prayer, so we also offered prayer with him. And he (peace be upon him) ran between Safa and Marwah, and we were concealing him (peace be upon him) from the people of Makkah so that no one could harm him (peace be upon him).

About the Battle of Dhat Qard
Narrated Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him): I set out (from Madinah towards Ghabah) before the morning Adhan. The milch camels of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were grazing at Dhi Qarad. On the way, I met the slave of Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), and he informed me that the camels of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had been seized... and he mentioned a long hadith which has already been mentioned before (see the Book: On Jihad and Military Expeditions... Chapter: Whoever, upon seeing the enemy, called out loudly that...). And at the end of this hadith, Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then we all returned, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made me ride on his camel until we reached Madinah.

The Battle of Khaybar
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We set out at night with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) during the expedition of Khaybar. Someone said to Sayyiduna ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him),“O ‘Amir! Why don’t you recite some poetry for us?”Sayyiduna ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) was a poet. He dismounted from his ride and began to recite poetry to the people, saying:

“O Allah! If it were not for You, we would not have been guided,
Nor given charity, nor prayed.
Forgive us for our shortcomings in obeying You,
We sacrifice ourselves for You,
And if we fight, keep our feet firm,
And send down tranquility upon us.
When someone calls us to injustice, we will refuse,
The disbelievers have raised a clamor and called for help against us.”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Who is this reciting poetry to urge the camels on?”The people said,“‘Amir bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him).”So he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“May Allah have mercy on him.”A man (Sayyiduna ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) said,“O Prophet of Allah, (Paradise or martyrdom) has become obligatory for ‘Amir. Why did you not let us benefit from him as well?”Then we reached Khaybar and besieged the people of Khaybar. Meanwhile, we suffered severe hunger. Then Allah granted victory to the Muslims over Khaybar.

On the day of victory, the Muslims lit fires in the evening (everyone began to cook food). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked:“What is this fire, and what are you cooking under it?”The people replied,“Under meat.”He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked:“Meat of which animal?”They replied,“Domestic donkeys.”He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Throw it away and break the pots.”Someone said,“Should we throw it away and wash the pots?”He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Do so.”

Then, when the ranks were formed to face the enemy, Sayyiduna ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) had a short sword. He struck at the leg of a Jew, but the tip of the sword turned back and struck Sayyiduna ‘Amir’s own knee, and Sayyiduna ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred from that wound.

(The narrator) says: When everyone returned, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw me sad, so he took my hand and asked:“How are you?”I replied,“May my parents be sacrificed for you! People say that ‘Amir’s deeds have been lost (because he killed himself).”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Whoever said that is lying. ‘Amir will have a double reward.”And he joined his two fingers together and said:“‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) was striving and fighting. No Arab has walked the earth like ‘Amir. There are very few Arabs living in Madinah like him.”And in another narration it is stated:“No Arab like ‘Amir has been born in Madinah.”

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived at Khaybar at night. (This hadith has already been mentioned in the Book of Prayer under the chapter: The narrations that are mentioned regarding the thigh...) In this narration, it is further mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) killed those among them who fought and took their women and children captive.

Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) attacked Khaybar, (on the way) the people climbed a high place and began to call out loudly: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Be gentle with yourselves (and do not shout), for you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent, but you are calling upon the One who hears and is very near, and He is with you." (At that time) I was right behind the riding animal of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He heard me reciting: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah." Then he said: "O Abdullah bin Qais!" (This is the real name of Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him.) I said: "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah! (I am present, O Messenger of Allah!)" So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you a phrase which is one of the treasures of Paradise?" I said: "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah! Please tell me, may my parents be sacrificed for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "(That phrase is) La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah."

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the polytheists confronted each other (on the day of Khaybar) and both sides fought. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned to his army and the disbelievers to theirs, there was a man among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who would not leave any single polytheist but would go after him and strike him with his sword. The people said,“Today he has done such deeds that none of us could do (he killed many disbelievers).”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“He is from the people of Hell.”One of the Muslims said,“I will stay with him.”So he stayed with him; wherever he stopped, he would stop, and when he ran, he would run with him. (The narrator said:) Eventually, that man was severely wounded and hastened his death; he placed the handle of his sword on the ground and the tip between his chest, then leaned with all his weight on it and killed himself. So the other man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said,“I bear witness that you are truly the Messenger of Allah.”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked:“How is that?”He replied,“O Messenger of Allah! Just now you declared that man to be from the people of Hell, and your statement was hard on the people, so I thought I should go and see his condition and inform the people about it. So I followed him, and then he was severely wounded, and to hasten his death, he placed the handle of his sword on the ground and the tip against his chest, then leaned with all his weight on it and killed himself.”Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“A person may do the deeds of the people of Paradise in the eyes of the people, yet he is from the people of Hell; and a person may do the deeds of the people of Hell in the eyes of the people, yet he is from the people of Paradise.”

And in another narration (Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, is also the narrator), he said: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O so-and-so! Stand up and announce that no one will enter Paradise except a believer, and Allah, the Exalted, also supports the religion through a wicked person."
