The Prophet (SAW) sending Ali ibn Abi Talib and Khalid ibn al-Walid (RA) to Yemen before the Farewell Hajj
Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) to collect the khums, and I thought badly of him (because he had relations with a slave woman and) he performed ghusl there. I said to Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him), "Do you not see him?" When we came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I narrated this incident to him, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Buraidah! Do you harbor enmity against Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)?" I said, "Yes." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not harbor enmity against him, for his share in the khums is even greater than this. (Then he became beloved to me)."

`Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) a piece of gold from Yemen, wrapped in tanned leather, and the gold had not yet been separated from its dust. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) distributed it among four men: 'Uyaynah bin Badr, Aqra' bin Habis, Zaid (known as) Khail, and the fourth was either Alqamah or 'Amir bin Tufail (may Allah be pleased with them). One of the companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "We are more deserving of this wealth than these people." When this news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said: "Do you not trust me, even though I am the trustee of the One who is in the heavens, and news from the heavens comes to me morning and evening?" Then he says that a man with sunken eyes, prominent cheekbones, a high forehead, thick beard, shaven head, and his lower garment raised, stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Fear Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "May Allah destroy you! Am I not the most God-fearing among all the people of the earth?" (Then) he says that the man went away. Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I not strike his neck?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, perhaps he prays." Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Many who pray are such (hypocrites) that they say with their tongues what is not in their hearts." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah has not commanded me to cut open people's hearts and look inside them, nor to split open their bellies." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked towards him as he was walking away, and said: "From the progeny of this man will come a people who will recite the Qur'an beautifully, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will go out of the religion as an arrow passes through the prey." (The narrator says) I think the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: "If I find those people, I will kill them as the people of Thamud were killed."

The Battle of Dhi al-Khalasah
The hadith of Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) in this regard that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Will you not relieve me from Dhu al-Khalasah?" has already been mentioned (see the Book of Jihad and the description of battle conditions... Chapter: Burning houses and gardens). In this narration, Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Dhu al-Khalasah was a place (idol house) of the tribes of Khath'am and Bajilah in Yemen, in which idols were kept and worshipped. (The narrator) said that when Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) reached Yemen, there was a man there who used to draw lots with arrows. Someone said to him that the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is present here; if he catches you, he will behead you. (The narrator) said that coincidentally, one day while he was drawing lots, Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) reached him and said: "Break them and recite the testimony 'La ilaha illallah' or else I will behead you." The narrator says that the man broke them and recited the testimony.

Jarir (RA) going to Yemen
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was in Yemen when I met two men from Yemen, Dhu’l-Kila’ and Dhu’Amr, and I began to talk to them about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Dhu’Amr said to me: If what you are saying about your companion is true, then it has been three days since he passed away. Then both of them came with me to Madinah. On the way, we saw some riders coming from Madinah, so we asked them, and they said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has passed away, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) has become the unanimously accepted Caliph, and everything else is fine. Both of them (Dhu’l-Kila’ and Dhu’Amr) said: Inform your companion that we came this far; if Allah wills, we will come again. And both of them went back towards Yemen.

The Battle of Sayf al-Bahr (Sea Shore)
Narrated Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent an army towards the seashore and appointed Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander, and they were three hundred men. We set out, and when we had gone a little distance, our provisions ran out. Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered that everyone's provisions be collected in one place, so they were gathered. My provision was only one date, and he would give us a little from it each day. Then that too finished, so we would get only one date each day. (The narrator says) I asked, "Would one date fill your stomach?" Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "When even that finished, then we realized its value." Then we reached the sea and saw a fish like a mountain. The people ate from it for eighteen nights. Then Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered that two of its ribs be set upright, and they were so high that a camel with its saddle was made to pass underneath them, and it passed through easily.

Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) says in another narration that the sea, by Allah’s command, cast out an animal (a fish) called ambergris. We ate its meat for half a month and applied its fat to our bodies, so our bodies became as healthy and robust as before. In another narration, he says that Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to us,“Eat it.”When we came to Madinah, we related this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said:“Eat it, it was sustenance sent by Allah. If you have any of it left, feed us as well.”Someone brought some to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he also ate from it.

The expedition of Uyaynah ibn Hisn
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him): The horsemen of Banu Tamim came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "(O Prophet of Allah!) Appoint Qaqa' bin Ma'bad bin Zurara (may Allah be pleased with him) as their leader." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "(No), rather appoint Aqra' bin Habis (may Allah be pleased with him) as their leader." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "You only want to oppose me (and have no other purpose)." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "My purpose is not to oppose you." So they both started arguing until their voices became loud. In the meantime, this verse was revealed: "O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)" — the entire verse. (Al-Hujurat: 1)

The story of the envoys of Banu Hanifah and Thumamah ibn Uthal (RA)
`Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Musaylimah the Liar came during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said that if Muhammad (peace be upon him) appoints him as his successor after him, he will obey him. And he had brought most of his people (Banu Hanifah) along with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went to him accompanied by the orator of the Ansar, Sayyiduna Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas (may Allah be pleased with him), and at that time the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace be upon him) held a branch of a date-palm. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) stood by Musaylimah the Liar and his companions and said: "Even if you ask me for this twig, I will not give it to you, and whatever Allah has decreed for you, you cannot escape it. And if you turn away from me, Allah will destroy you. And I see you are the one whose condition was described to me in a dream, and this is Thabit bin Qais who will answer you on my behalf." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) returned. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that I inquired about the meaning of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) statement: "You are the one whose condition was described to me in a dream." So Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say: "Once, while I was asleep, I saw in a dream two bangles in my hands. I became worried about them. Then, in the dream, I was divinely inspired to blow on them, so I blew on them and they flew away. I interpreted this as meaning that two liars would claim prophethood after me, one being Aswad Ansi and the other Musaylimah."

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent some horsemen towards Najd, and they brought back a man from the tribe of Banu Hanifa, whose name was Thumama bin Uthal, and they tied him to one of the pillars of the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to him and said, "O Thumama! What do you think (that I will do with you)?" He replied, "O Muhammad! My opinion is good. If you kill me, there is no blame, for I have killed Muslims in battle. If you show kindness and set me free, I will be grateful to you. And if you want wealth, then ask whatever you wish." Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left. The next day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) again asked, "O Thumama! What do you think?" He replied, "My opinion is the same as I have already said: if you show kindness and set me free, I will be grateful to you." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left him tied as he was. On the third day, he asked, "O Thumama! What do you think?" He replied, "The same as I have already said." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Set Thumama free." The people complied and released him. Thumama went to a pond near the mosque, performed ghusl (ritual bath), came into the mosque, and said, "I bear witness that there is no true god except Allah, and indeed Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. O Muhammad! By Allah, there was no face on the entire earth more hateful to me than yours, but today your face is the most beloved to me. By Allah, there was no religion more hateful to me than yours, but now your religion is the most beloved to me. By Allah, there was no city more hateful to me than yours, but now your city is the most beloved to me. Your horsemen captured me while I was going for Umrah. Now, what do you command?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) congratulated him and instructed him to perform Umrah. When he reached Mecca, someone said to him, "Have you become irreligious?" He replied, "No, by Allah! Rather, I have become a Muslim with Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). And by Allah! Not a single grain of wheat will come to you from Yamamah until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permits it."

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I was sleeping when the treasures of the earth were brought to me, and two gold bangles were placed in my hands. I disliked this, so it was revealed to me that I should blow on them. When I blew on them, they both flew away. I interpreted this as referring to two liars between whom I am, both of them being the one from Sana'a (i.e., Aswad Ansi) and the one from Yamama (Musaylimah the liar)."
