The Battle of Ta’if in Shawwal, 8 AH
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) laid siege to Ta’if and did not inflict any loss upon them (rather, the Muslims themselves suffered losses), finally the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“InshaAllah, (now) we will return to Madinah.”This was hard on the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and they said,“How can we return without victory?”Once, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“We will return.”Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“(Alright) fight tomorrow morning.”In the morning, they all fought and were wounded. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“Tomorrow, InshaAllah, we will return.”At that time, this was pleasing to them. So the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) smiled.

Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he was staying at Ji‘irrana, which is a place between Makkah and Madinah, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was also with him. A Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said,“Will you not fulfill the promise you made to me?”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him:“Glad tidings of a great reward are for you.”(Rejoice!) He replied,“You often say this: rejoice (should I wear this glad tiding or spread it out?)”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to Abu Musa and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with them both) in a state of anger and said:“This Bedouin did not accept the glad tidings, you both accept it.”They both said,“We accept.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked for a bowl of water, washed his hands and face in it, and rinsed his mouth in it, then said:“Drink from it, and pour it over your faces and chests, and rejoice.”Both of them took it and did so. Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) called out from behind the curtain,“Leave some for your mother as well.”They saved some water and gave it to her too.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered the Ansar and said: "The people of Quraysh have just come out of the hardships of ignorance and the calamities of killing and captivity, so I wish to give them some of the spoils of war to help and console them. Are you not pleased that people take the world and you take the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to your homes?" They replied, "Yes, we are pleased." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If other people walk in a valley and the Ansar walk in a mountain pass, I will also choose the valley or mountain pass of the Ansar."

The Prophet (SAW) sending Khalid ibn al-Walid (RA) to Banu Jadhimah
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) to the tribe of Jadhima. Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) invited them to Islam. They could not say properly that "we have accepted Islam," but out of fear, they started saying, "we have changed our religion." Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) began to kill them and took some as prisoners, giving each of us a prisoner. Then one day he ordered that each person should kill his prisoner. I said, "I will never kill my prisoner, nor will any of my companions kill his prisoner." When we came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and narrated this incident to him, the Prophet (peace be upon him) raised his hands and said, "O Allah! I am free from what Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) has done." He said this twice.

The expedition of Abdullah ibn Hudhafah Sahmi and Alqamah ibn Mujazziz (RA), also called the expedition of the Ansar
Ameer-ul-Mu'mineen Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent an army and appointed an Ansari as its leader, and ordered everyone to obey him. (On the way) he became angry and said, "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not order you to obey me?" They replied, "Yes, he certainly did." The Ansari said, "Gather wood for me." They gathered it. Then he said, "Light a fire." They lit the fire. Then he said, "All of you jump into it." They intended to enter it, but some began to stop others and said, "We have come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fleeing from the fire (of Hell), so how can we burn in it now?" Thus, while they were arguing, the fire went out and the Ansari's anger subsided. When this news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "If they had entered that fire, they would never have come out of it until the Day of Resurrection. Obedience is only required in good deeds (it is not necessary to obey the leader in sinful matters)."

The Prophet (SAW) sending Abu Musa and Mu’adh (RA) to Yemen before the Farewell Hajj
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent him and Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) towards Yemen, and appointed each of them as governor over a part of Yemen, and Yemen has two parts. Then he said: "Make things easy for the people, do not make things difficult, and give them glad tidings, do not make them averse to the religion." Both went to their respective duties. (The narrator Abu Burdah) says that whenever either of them, while touring his area, came near the other companion, he would definitely meet and greet him. Once, Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) went to his land, which was near his companion Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal came to Sayyiduna Abu Musa riding his mule, (may Allah be pleased with him), who was sitting and many people were gathered around him. There he saw a man whose hands were tied to his neck. So Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "O Abdullah bin Qais! Who is this?" He replied, "This man became a disbeliever after accepting Islam." Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I will not get down from my mule until he is killed." Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "He has been brought here for this very reason, so you get down." He said, "I will never get down before he is killed." Then Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered and had him killed. Then he got down and said, "O Abdullah! How do you recite the Qur'an?" He replied, "I recite a little at all times." Then he asked, "O Mu'adh! How do you recite the Qur'an?" He said, "I sleep at the beginning of the night, then after waking up as usual, I recite as much as Allah wills, and I consider my sleep to be rewarded equal to worship."
