Hadith Number: 2939
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once a slave girl brought shoulder meat from a pot to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it and then performed prayer, and not only did he not perform fresh ablution, he did not even touch water.

Yazid bin Hurmaz says that during the days of the trial of Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both), when Najda Haruri rebelled, he asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about this issue: In your opinion, who has the right to the share of Dhul Qurba? He replied: This is the right of us people—those who are close relatives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed among them. Later, Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) offered us something else in exchange for it, but it was less than our right, so we refused to accept it. Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) had offered that those among us who wished to marry, he would provide them financial assistance, pay the debts of our debtors, and give wealth to our poor, but he refused to give more than that.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the polytheists used to part their hair, while the People of the Book would leave them as they were, and the blessed habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was that in matters where no command had come, he preferred to follow and agree with the People of the Book rather than the polytheists. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also not part his hair, but later he (peace and blessings be upon him) started parting his hair.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the children of Adam, there is no one except Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him) who has not made a mistake, that is, committed a sin, or intended to commit a sin.

It is narrated that once some people were sitting around Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), when a man came and called out to him, saying: "Are you following any Sunnah by drinking this nabidh, or do you consider it lighter than honey and milk?" Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: 'Give me water to drink.' Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'This nabidh has become turbid and dusty; shall we not give you milk or honey?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Give us what you are giving to the people.' So he brought two vessels of nabidh to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time both the Muhajirun and Ansar were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it, he removed it before being fully quenched, and raised his head and said: 'You have done well, do like this.' Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) then said: 'To me, the pleasure of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is more important than if milk and honey were to flow from its sides.'"

Ata bin Abi Rabah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) invited his brother Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) to eat on the day of Arafah. He replied that he was fasting. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Do not fast on this day (while in the state of Ihram), because milk was milked and presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a vessel on this day, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) drank it, and people follow your example (if they see you fasting, they might start considering it important).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never fasted an entire month except for Ramadan, but sometimes he would fast so continuously that people would say the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will not leave any fast, and sometimes he would refrain from fasting so continuously that people would say the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will not fast at all.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade walking with a shoe or sock on only one foot. Abdullah, the son of Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), says that my father (may Allah have mercy on him) did not narrate this hadith to us, but had only recorded it in his draft. I think he abandoned this hadith because of Amr bin Khalid, who narrates it from Zaid bin Ali, and Amr bin Khalid has no standing.
