It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that one day when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke up in the morning, it was found that the army had no water. So a man came and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! The army has no water. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him, "Do you have a little water?" He said: Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Bring it to me." After a short while, he brought a vessel in which there was very little water. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his fingers on the mouth of the vessel and spread them. Immediately, springs began to gush forth from the fingers of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to announce among the people: "Come and take the blessed water."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the time of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) passing drew near, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Bring me writing materials so that I may write for you a document after which you will never go astray.”At that time, there were many people in the house, among whom was Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him). He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is overcome by severe pain, and you have the Qur’an with you, and the Book of Allah is sufficient for us. At this, there arose a difference of opinion among the people; some were of the opinion that writing materials should be presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he could dictate something to them, and some agreed with the opinion of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). When the noise and disagreement increased, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Get up from me.”Upon this, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: Alas! Because of the people’s disagreement and noise, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was prevented from writing that document.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Madinah Munawwarah with the intention of Makkah Mukarramah. He was fasting, but when he reached the place of Usfan, he called for a vessel and placed it on his hand so that everyone could see, and then he broke his fast. Therefore, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say that since the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) both fasted and broke his fast during travel, it is permissible for a traveler to do either—whether he fasts or does not fast (and makes it up later).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came out from the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the illness of the Prophet’s passing. The people asked: O Abu al-Hasan! How is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: Now, since morning, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is, all praise is due to Allah, well. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that upon this, Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) took the hand of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Do you not see? By Allah! From this illness, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will not recover and will pass away. I recognize the state that overtakes the faces of Banu Abd al-Muttalib at the time of death. So come, let us go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and ask him who will have the caliphate after him. If it is to be among us, we will know it, and if it is to be among others, we will speak to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he may advise the coming caliph about us. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! If we request this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he refuses to accept our request, then people will never give us the caliphate. Therefore, I will never make this request to him.

Or kissed her? Or looked at her?" In fact, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was concerned that he might not know the actual meaning of adultery.
