It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting with some of his noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), when suddenly a large star shot across and became bright. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When this used to happen in the time of ignorance, what would you say?" The people replied, "We used to say that either a great man has been born or a great man has died." (The narrator says: I asked Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him): Were stars also shot in the time of ignorance? He said: Yes! But after the Prophet's (peace be upon him) mission, it became more severe.) The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The shooting of stars does not happen because of anyone's death or life. The real matter is that when our Lord decides upon a matter, the angels who carry the Throne begin to glorify Him. Hearing their glorification, those of the nearest heaven also begin to glorify, and so on, until this reaches the heaven of the world. Then the angels of this heaven—who are close to the bearers of the Throne—ask them: 'What has your Lord said?' They inform them, and thus each heaven's angels inform those of the next, until this news reaches the angels of the lowest heaven. From there, the jinn snatch one or two words, and upon them these stars are thrown. Now, whatever they convey correctly, that proves true, but most of the time they add something from themselves."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting with some of his noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), when suddenly a large star shot across and became bright... Then, mentioning the complete hadith, he said: "When our Lord decides upon a matter, the angels who carry the Throne begin to glorify Him. Hearing their glorification, those in the nearest heaven also begin to glorify, and thus this continues until it reaches the heaven of the world. Then the angels of this heaven—who are close to the bearers of the Throne—ask them, 'What has your Lord said?' They inform them, and in this way, each heaven's angels inform those of the heaven below, until the news reaches the angels of the lowest heaven. From there, the jinn snatch one or two words, and stars are thrown at them. Now, whatever they convey correctly is indeed true, but most of the time they add something from themselves."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted with the illness of his passing, he would repeatedly cover his blessed face with a sheet, and when he felt discomfort, we would remove the sheet from his face. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying, "May Allah's curse be upon the Jews and Christians; they made the graves of their prophets places of prostration." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that in fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was warning people against their action so that they would not fall into it.

Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that today I performed the Zuhr prayer in Wadi Batha behind a foolish old man, and he said "Allahu Akbar" twenty-two times in one prayer. He would say "Allahu Akbar" even when he went into prostration and when he raised his head from it. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: This is how the prayer of Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to be.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite aloud in some prayers and remain silent in others. Therefore, in those prayers in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud, we also recite, and in those in which he remained silent, we also remain silent. Someone said, "Perhaps the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite quietly?" At this, he became angry and said, "Will the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) be accused now as well?"
