It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Qur’anic verse: «﴿وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا﴾ [الإسراء: 110] » was revealed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in concealment in Makkah Mukarramah. He also says that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead his companions in prayer, he would recite the Qur’an aloud. When the polytheists heard that voice, they would begin to speak ill of the Qur’an, the One who revealed the Qur’an, and the one who brought the Qur’an. On this occasion, this verse was revealed: Do not recite so loudly that the polytheists hear it and begin to speak ill of the Qur’an, nor recite so quietly that your companions cannot hear it; rather, choose a middle course.

When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached a place called Thaniyyah Harsha, he asked, "What is the name of this mound?" The people replied, "Its name is Thaniyyah Harsha." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Here it seems to me as if I am seeing Yunus (peace be upon him) riding a red, curly-haired she-camel. He is wearing a woolen cloak, the reins of his she-camel are made from the bark of a date-palm tree, and he is reciting the Talbiyah."
