Umar bin Abdullah says that once some people were coming from Marwan, and they met Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). He asked, "Where are these people coming from?" They replied, "We are coming from the Amir of Madinah, Marwan." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "Did you speak about the truth you saw there and support it, and did you denounce and object to the evil you saw there?" They said, "By Allah! That did not happen. Rather, he would say something wrong and we would support him, and we would say to him, 'May Allah deal with you in goodness.' And when we left from there, we would say, 'May Allah kill him, how oppressive and wicked he is!'" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "In the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to consider this as hypocrisy."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) a slave woman from among the captives of Banu Hawazin. He gifted her to me. I sent her to my maternal relatives in Banu Jumah so that they could prepare her, while I performed Tawaf of the House of Allah. Upon returning, I intended to have privacy with her. When I finished and came out of the mosque, I saw people running. I asked them what was happening. They informed me that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had returned our sons and women to us. I said, "Then one of your women is also with Banu Jumah; go and take her from there." So they went there and took her back.
