Musnad of the Ansar
حَدِيثُ أَبِي ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 21308
حدثنا يحيى بن آدم ، حدثنا زهير ، عن ابي إسحاق ، عن المخارق ، قال: خرجنا حجاجا، فلما بلغنا الربذة، قلت لاصحابي: تقدموا وتخلفت، فاتيت ابا ذر وهو يصلي، فرايته يطيل القيام، ويكثر الركوع والسجود، فذكرت ذلك له، فقال: ما الوت ان احسن، إني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: " من ركع ركعة او سجد سجدة رفع بها درجة، وحطت عنه بها خطيئة" .
Mukhariq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once we set out with the intention of performing Hajj. When we reached the place of Rabdha, I said to my companions, "You go ahead," and I stayed behind. I went to serve Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him). He was performing prayer at that time. I saw him standing for a long time and performing many bowings and prostrations. I mentioned this to him, and he said, "I do not fall short in doing the best I can from my side. I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever performs one bowing or one prostration, one rank is raised for him and one sin is forgiven."

Hadith Number: 21309
حدثنا حدثنا عبد الله، قال: قرات على ابي هذا الحديث فاقر به، حدثني مهدي بن جعفر الرملي ، حدثني ضمرة ، عن ابي زرعة السيباني ، عن قنبر حاجب معاوية ، قال: كان ابو ذر يغلظ لمعاوية، قال: فشكاه إلى عبادة بن الصامت، وإلى ابي الدرداء، وإلى عمرو بن العاص، وإلى ام حرام، فقال: " إنكم قد صحبتم كما صحب، ورايتم كما راى، فإن رايتم ان تكلموه، ثم ارسل إلى ابي ذر فجاء فكلموه، فقال: اما انت يا ابا الوليد، فقد اسلمت قبلي، ولك السن والفضل علي، وقد كنت ارغب بك عن مثل هذا المجلس، واما انت يا ابا الدرداء، فإن كادت وفاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ان تفوتك، ثم اسلمت، فكنت من صالحي المسلمين، واما انت يا عمرو بن العاص، فقد جاهدت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، واما انت يا ام حرام، فإنما انت امراة، وعقلك عقل امراة، واما انت وذاك؟! قال: فقال: عبادة لا جرم لا جلست مثل هذا المجلس ابدا" .
Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to speak harshly to Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), about which Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) complained in the presence of Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him), Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him), Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him), and Hazrat Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her), and said: Just as he has had the companionship of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), you people have also had this honor, and just as he has seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), you have also seen him. If you people consider it appropriate, then speak to him. They called Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him). When he arrived, the mentioned individuals spoke with him. He said: O Abu al-Waleed! You accepted Islam before me, you are greater than me in age and virtue, I encourage you to avoid such gatherings. And O Abu Darda! You accepted Islam when the time of the Noble Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) passing was near, you are a good Muslim. And O Amr bin Aas! I have performed jihad with you alongside the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And O Umm Haram! You are a woman, and your intellect is also that of a woman, do not get involved in this matter. Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him), seeing this situation, said: It is settled that from today onwards, I will not sit in such gatherings.

Hadith Number: 21310
حدثنا إبراهيم بن ابي العباس ، حدثنا بقية ، قال: واخبرني بحير بن سعد ، عن خالد بن معدان ، قال: قال ابو ذر : إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " قد افلح من اخلص قلبه للإيمان، وجعل قلبه سليما، ولسانه صادقا، ونفسه مطمئنة، وخليقته مستقيمة، وجعل اذنه مستمعة، وعينه ناظرة، فاما الاذن فقمع، والعين بمقرة لما يوعى القلب، وقد افلح من جعل قلبه واعيا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Successful is the person who has purified his heart for faith and has been granted a sound heart, a truthful tongue, a contented soul, and good character. His ears have been given the ability to hear and his eyes the ability to see. The example of the ears is like that of a vessel’s base, while the eyes provide a place for the things preserved in the heart. And successful is the person whose heart is a preserver.

Hadith Number: 21311
حدثنا حدثنا محمد بن سابق ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن طهمان ، عن منصور ، عن ربعي بن حراش ، عن المعرور بن سويد ، عن ابي ذر، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " يقول الله: يا ابن آدم، لو عملت قراب الارض خطايا ولم تشرك بي شيئا، جعلت لك قراب الارض مغفرة" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) with reference to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Allah Almighty says: O son of Adam! If you commit sins as much as the earth but do not associate anyone with Me, then I will appoint forgiveness for you as much as the earth.

Hadith Number: 21312
حدثنا موسى بن داود ، حدثنا ابن لهيعة ، عن سالم بن غيلان ، عن سليمان بن ابي عثمان ، عن عدي بن حاتم الحمصي ، عن ابي ذر ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا تزال امتي بخير ما عجلوا الإفطار، واخروا السحور" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Ummah will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten in breaking the fast and delay the pre-dawn meal (suhoor)."

حكم دارالسلام: إسناده ضعيف، ابن لهيعة سيئ الحفظ ، وسليمان بن أبى عثمان وعدي بن حاتم مجهولان
Hadith Number: 21313
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا همام ، حدثنا قتادة ، عن عبد الله بن شقيق ، قال: قلت لابي ذر لو رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لسالته، قال: وما كنت تساله؟ قال: كنت اساله هل راى ربه؟ قال: فإني قد سالته، فقال: " قد رايته نورا، انى اراه؟!"، قال عفان: وبلغني عن ابن هشام يعني معاذا، انه رواه عن ابيه كما قال همام:" قد رايته" .
Abdullah bin Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I said to Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), "I wish I had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so I could have asked him just one question." He (Abu Dharr) said, "What question would you have asked him?" He (Abdullah) said, "I would have asked whether you have seen your Lord." Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I have already asked him that question, and in response he said, 'I saw a light, how could I see Him?'" The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

Hadith Number: 21314
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا ابو عوانة ، عن سليمان الاعمش ، عن مجاهد ، عن عبيد بن عمير الليثي ، عن ابي ذر ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " اعطيت خمسا لم يعطهن احد قبلي بعثت إلى الاحمر والاسود، وجعلت لي الارض طهورا ومسجدا، واحلت لي الغنائم، ولم تحل لاحد قبلي، ونصرت بالرعب، فيرعب العدو وهو مني مسيرة شهر، وقيل لي سل تعطه، واختبات دعوتي شفاعة لامتي، فهي نائلة منكم إن شاء الله، من لم يشرك بالله شيئا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been given five such characteristics which were not given to any prophet before me. Thus, I have been helped through awe, and the enemy becomes overawed by me from a distance of one month's journey. The entire earth has been made a place of prostration and a means of purification for me. The spoils of war have been made lawful for me, which were not made lawful for anyone before me. I have been sent to every red and black (i.e., to all mankind), and it was said to me: "Ask, you will be given." So I have reserved this right for the intercession of my Ummah, and this intercession will reach every one of you who meets Allah in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Him.

Hadith Number: 21315
حدثنا حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا همام ، حدثنا عاصم ، عن المعرور بن سويد ، ان ابا ذر ، قال: حدثنا الصادق المصدوق صلى الله عليه وسلم فيما يروي عن ربه عز وجل، انه قال: " الحسنة بعشر امثالها او ازيد، والسيئة بواحدة او اغفر، ولو لقيتني بقراب الارض خطايا، ما لم تشرك بي، لقيتك بقرابها مغفرة" ، قال: وقراب الارض ملء الارض،
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the truthful and trustworthy Prophet conveyed to us this statement from Allah Almighty: The reward of a good deed is tenfold, and I can increase it further, and the recompense of a sin is equal to it, and I can also forgive it. And O son of Adam! If you come to Me with sins filling the earth, but do not associate anyone with Me, I will meet you with forgiveness filling the earth.

Hadith Number: 21316
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا ابو عوانة ، عن عاصم ، عن المعرور بن سويد، عن ابي ذر ، قال: سمعت الصادق المصدوق صلى الله عليه وسلم، فذكر معناه.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

Hadith Number: 21317
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن علي بن زيد ، عن مطرف ، قال: قعدت إلى نفر من قريش، فجاء رجل فجعل يصلي يركع ويسجد ثم يقوم، ثم يركع ويسجد لا يقعد، فقلت والله ما ارى هذا يدري ينصرف على شفع او وتر، فقالوا: الا تقوم إليه فتقول له؟! قال: فقمت، فقلت: يا عبد الله، ما اراك تدري تنصرف على شفع او على وتر، قال: ولكن الله يدري، سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: " من سجد لله سجدة، كتب الله له بها حسنة، وحط بها عنه خطيئة، ورفع له بها درجة"، فقلت: من انت؟ فقال ابو ذر: فرجعت إلى اصحابي، فقلت: جزاكم الله من جلساء شرا، امرتموني ان اعلم رجلا من اصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم .
Mutarrif says that once I was sitting with some people of the Quraysh when a man came and started praying. He would perform ruku and sujood, then stand up and again perform ruku and sujood, and would not sit in between. I said, "By Allah! It seems as if he does not know anything, whether to end the prayer with salam on even or odd rak'ahs." The people said to me, "Why don't you go to him and explain to him?" So I went to him and said, "O servant of Allah! It seems you do not know whether to finish the prayer on even or odd rak'ahs." He said, "Allah knows, I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: 'Whoever performs a sajdah for Allah, Allah writes for him one good deed, erases one sin, and raises him one degree.'" I asked him, "Who are you?" He replied, "I am Abu Dharr." So I returned to my companions and said, "May Allah give you a bad reward on behalf of your companions; you sent me to teach religion to a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)."
