Hadith of Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman from the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 23462
It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) presented before us examples of one, three, five, seven, nine, and eleven, some of which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained at that time and left the rest, and said: There was a nation whose people were weak and poor; a powerful and numerous nation fought against them, so Allah granted dominance to the weak ones. They advanced towards their enemy, appointed their rulers over them, established authority over them, and became a cause of Allah’s displeasure upon them until they met Allah.

Rabi’ bin Hirash says that once I was sitting with Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), when one of them said to the other,“Tell us the ahadith you have heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).”So one of them narrated this hadith and the other confirmed it, that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: On the Day of Resurrection, a man will be brought forth. Allah Almighty will say,“Look at his deeds.”He will say,“O Lord! I did not do any good deeds, except that I had wealth and I used to trade with people. If someone was well-off, I would make things easy for him, and if someone was in difficulty, I would give him respite until he was at ease.”Allah Almighty will say,“I am more entitled to ease than you.”Thus, he will be forgiven. The other companion confirmed him, saying,“I also heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say this.”
Then he said,“I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: On the Day of Resurrection, a man will be brought forth who, at the time of his death, said to his family, ‘When I die, burn me in fire, then crush my ashes, then on a day when a strong wind is blowing, scatter my ashes in the air.’ When he died, his family did as he had said. Allah gathered him in His power and asked him, ‘What made you do this?’ He said, ‘Your fear.’ Allah said, ‘I have forgiven you.’ The other companion also confirmed him in this.”

Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila says that once I went out towards a village with Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked for water, so a farmer brought water in a silver vessel. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) struck the vessel on his face. We signaled to each other to remain silent, because if we asked him, he would never have told us about it. So we remained silent. After a while, he himself said, "Do you know why I struck this vessel on his face?" We replied, "No." He said, "I had forbidden him before as well (but he did not refrain)." Then he told us that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not drink anything in gold or silver vessels, and do not wear silk or brocade, because these things are for the disbelievers in this world and for you in the Hereafter."
