Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that a slave is like a free person in both li'an and qadhf, but whoever accuses a slave-girl of adultery, the hadd of qadhf will not be obligatory upon him.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: When a Muslim free man marries a Muslim slave woman, a free woman, a Jewish woman, or a Christian woman, and accuses her of adultery, then li'an will be obligatory.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that if a man performs li'an with his wife, and then after one or two testimonies denies himself, the hadd of qadhf will be applied to him and separation will not occur.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: If a man divorces his wife, and after three months the woman says: "I am pregnant," and the husband denies her pregnancy, then li'an will be obligatory.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that if a man performs li'an with his slave woman and then buys her, he should not have intercourse with her, because the established Sunnah is that those who have performed li'an are never joined together.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that if a husband performs li'an with his wife before consummation, then the woman will receive half the dowry.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that Urwah bin Zubair used to say that when the child of li'an and the child of adultery die, their mother will inherit from them according to her share, and their maternal brothers will also inherit. Whatever remains will go to the mawla of the mother, if the mother was a slave woman who was set free. If she was a free Arab woman, then after giving the shares to the mother and brothers, whatever remains will go to the Bayt al-Mal.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: It has also reached me from Sulayman ibn Yasar in the same way, and I found the people of knowledge upon this.

Muhammad bin Iyas bin Bukair said: A man gave his wife three divorces before consummation, then he wanted to marry her again, so he went to ask about the matter, and I went with him. He asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with them. Both said: It is not permissible for you to marry this woman until she marries another man. The man said: With one divorce, the woman became separated (bain) from me. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: You have lost your right by your own hand.

It is narrated from Ata bin Yasar that a man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: What is the ruling for a person who gives his wife three divorces before consummation? Ata said that for a virgin, one divorce takes effect. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You are a storyteller; with one divorce, she becomes separated (bain), and with three divorces, she becomes forbidden (haram) until she marries another man.
