Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no sin upon the person who kills five creatures: the scorpion, the kite, the mouse, the biting dog, and the crow."

A narration similar to that of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) is also reported from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no sin upon a person who kills five creatures: the crow, the kite, the scorpion, the mouse, and the biting dog." In the narration of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the words are different: "the snake, the wolf, and the biting dog." There is no sin upon the one who kills them. Janab Ibn Abi Maryam also narrates this hadith, but in his narration, the words mentioned are: "the snake, the wolf, the leopard, and the biting dog." Janab Muhammad bin Yahya says, as if he explained the biting dog by stating that what is meant by it is the snake, the wolf, and the leopard.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is permissible to kill five animals within the boundaries of the Haram: the snake, the scorpion, the mouse, the kite, and the biting dog." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Imam Muhammad bin Yahya, while explaining the biting dog, mentioned the snake; it is possible that this was a slip of the tongue, because there is no connection between the snake and the dog, nor is the word 'dog' used for a snake. However, the word 'dog' is applied to the leopard and the wolf. In the narration of Hatim bin Isma'il, this clarification exists that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) differentiated between the snake and the biting dog. Therefore, how is it possible that in this narration, the biting dog refers to the snake, as the word 'dog' is not used for the snake.

It is narrated from Hazrat Safwan bin Ya'la bin Umayyah that Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) expressed his desire to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he wished he could see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the state when revelation was being sent down upon him. Coincidentally, when you were at the place of Ji'ranah and a cloth was providing shade over you, and some of your companions were also behind that shade, at that moment a man came to you in such a state that he was drenched in perfume. He said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is your command regarding a person who, after applying perfume, has put on the Ihram in a cloak?" You looked at him for a while, then revelation began to descend upon you. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a message to Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying, "Come (and fulfill your wish)." So he came and put his head inside the canopy. Suddenly, he saw that the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was red, and this state remained for a while, then after the revelation was complete, this state ended. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Where is the person who just asked me about Umrah?" That person was searched for and brought, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded him, "Wash off the perfume from your body three times and take off the cloak (and wear the two sheets instead), then perform in your Umrah the same acts that you do in your Hajj."

Sayyiduna Ya’la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I wished to see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time when revelation was being sent down upon him. So, once when we were at the place of Ji’ranah, a man wearing a shirt came to the Prophet. His shirt was soaked with saffron fragrance. He said,“I have pronounced the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah and I am wearing this shirt, so what should I do?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:“What do you do in your Hajj?”He said,“I take off these clothes and wash off the fragrance.”So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Do in your ‘Umrah as you do in your Hajj.”Meanwhile, revelation began to descend upon the Prophet, so he was covered with a sheet. Then Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) called me, removed the cloth, and let me see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he was breathing deeply and his blessed face had become red. This narration is from Abdul Jabbar. In the narration of Makhzawi (may Allah have mercy on him), it is mentioned that we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Ji’ranah, and I had expressed to Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) my desire to see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of the descent of revelation.

In this narration, these words are also present: That man said,“I wash this fragrance from my body and clothes.”
