Sahih Ibn Hibban
Description of those given the Quran and faith, or one without the other
Hadith Number: 121
Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The example of the person who is given the Qur'an and faith is like that of a pear, whose taste is good and whose fragrance is also good. And the example of the person who is given neither the Qur'an nor faith is like the colocynth plant, whose taste is bitter and which has no fragrance." The example of the person who is given faith but not (knowledge of) the Qur'an is like that of a date, whose taste is good but which has no fragrance. And the example of the person who is given (knowledge of) the Qur'an but not faith is like the sweet basil plant, whose taste is bitter but whose fragrance is good.

Denial of misguidance for those who hold fast to the Quran
Hadith Number: 122
Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said: "Accept glad tidings. Accept glad tidings. Do you not bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and indeed I am the Messenger of Allah?" The people replied: "Yes!" So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, this Qur'an is like a rope, one end of which is in the Hand of Allah the Exalted, and the other end is in your hands. Hold firmly to it, and after that you will never go astray nor be destroyed."

Affirmation of guidance for those who follow the Quran and misguidance for those who abandon it
Hadith Number: 123
Yazid bin Hayan narrates about Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him): Once we presented ourselves before him, and we requested him, "You have seen goodness, you have been with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). You have performed prayers following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." He replied, "Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us in a sermon and said: 'I am leaving among you the Book of Allah; it is the rope of Allah. Whoever follows it will remain on guidance, and whoever abandons it will be on the path of misguidance.'"

Clarification that the Quran leads those who follow it to Paradise and those who neglect it to Hell
Hadith Number: 124
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The Qur'an is such an intercessor whose intercession will be accepted, and such a disputant (i.e., it will argue in the court of Allah for its reciter) whose testimony will be confirmed. Whoever makes it his leader, it will lead him to Paradise, and whoever puts it behind his back, it will drive him to Hell."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Whoever does not have expertise in the science of hadith, this wording of the narration may cause him to fall into the misunderstanding that the Qur'an is created and is a creature, whereas this is not the case. The meaning of these words is: as we have written in our books, the Arabs in their idiom sometimes apply the name of a thing to its cause, just as they apply the name of the cause to the thing itself. So when acting upon the Qur'an leads a person to Paradise, the name of acting upon the Qur'an is applied to its cause, i.e., the Qur'an itself. This does not mean that the Qur'an is created.

Hadith Number: 127

Then Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard this from the tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Zaid bin Khalid says: After this, I asked Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Zubair bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him): and these gentlemen also gave a similar answer.
