Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Allah Almighty has made one hundred parts of mercy. Out of them, He has kept ninety-nine parts with Himself and sent down one part to the earth. Because of this one part, the creation shows mercy to one another, to the extent that even an animal lifts its hoof away from its young one, fearing that it might harm it."

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know where the sun goes? The people replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It keeps moving until it reaches its appointed place under the Throne, then it falls into prostration and remains in that state until it is said to it: Raise your head and return to where you came from. So it returns and rises from its place of rising. Then it comes again until it reaches its appointed place under the Throne, then it falls into prostration and remains in the state of prostration until it is said to it: Raise your head and return to where you came from. So it returns and rises from its appointed place. Then it comes and reaches its appointed place under the Throne and falls into prostration, then remains in that state until it is said to it: Raise your head and return to where you came from. It returns and rises from its appointed place, then it keeps moving. People do not see anything wrong in this, until one time it will reach its appointed place under the Throne and it will be said to it: Raise your head and rise from the west. So it will rise from the west. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do you know when this will happen? It will be at a time when faith will not benefit anyone who did not believe before, nor anyone who did not earn good through his faith.

(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Ishaq has narrated this hadith in the same way from Yunus bin Ubaid from Ibrahim Taimi, although it is well known that this narration is transmitted from Yunus bin Khabbab from Ibrahim Taimi.

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Near sunset, I was present in the mosque with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace be upon him) asked: Do you know where the sun sets? I replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: It goes until it reaches under the Throne, presenting itself before its Lord, then it seeks permission and is granted permission. Soon a time will come when it will seek permission but will not be granted permission. It will plead and request, and when this situation arises, it will be said: Go back, rise from where you set. This is what is meant by Allah Almighty’s statement:“The sun runs on its fixed course. That is the decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.”

Abu Sa’ib narrates: I was present in the service of Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him). I was sitting with him when I heard the sound of something moving under his bed. I checked, and there was a snake. Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) asked,“What happened to you?”I said,“There is a snake here.”He asked,“What do you intend to do?”I replied,“I want to kill it.”So Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) pointed towards a house in that neighborhood which I could see. He said,“My cousin used to live in that house. During the Battle of Ahzab, he sought permission to go to his house as he had recently gotten married. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission and instructed him to take his weapon with him. When he came to his neighborhood, he found his wife standing at the door of the house. He pointed his spear towards the woman. The woman said, ‘Do not be hasty about me; first find out why I have come out.’ The man went inside the house and found a strange and unusual snake there. He killed the snake with his spear and then brought it out, impaled on the spear. The snake was still moving. Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I do not know which of the two died first—the man or the snake. The people of his tribe came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to return our companion to us.’ The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Pray for forgiveness for your companion.’ Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Some jinn live in Madinah who have accepted Islam. When you see any of them, warn them three times. If it appears before you after that, then kill it. After warning it three times, then kill it.’
