It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I asked my servant for a loan, but he did not give me a loan, and my servant abuses me in a state of unawareness, although it does not befit him. He says: Alas! Woe to the time, alas! Woe to the time, alas! Woe to the time, while I (Allah) am the time."

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Allah Almighty says: Whoever does a good deed, I will grant him ten times as much or even more reward, and whoever does an evil deed, I will give him the recompense of only one evil or I will forgive it. Whoever meets Me with sins nearly as much as the earth, but does not associate anyone with Me, I will grant him forgiveness equal to that. Whoever comes near to Me by a span, I come near to him by a cubit; whoever comes near to Me by a cubit, I come near to him by the span of two outstretched arms; and whoever comes to Me walking, I come to him running.”

Sayyiduna Abu Abdur Rahman Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when two riders appeared to us. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them, he said: "These are two people from Kinda and they belong to the tribe of Madhhij." When they reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), indeed they were men from the tribe of Madhhij. One of them came close to pledge allegiance. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his hand, he said: O Messenger of Allah! What will a person get who sees you, believes in you, affirms you, and follows you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings are for him." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over him and he stepped back. Then the second one came forward. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his hand to accept his pledge, he said: O Messenger of Allah! What will a person get who believes in you, affirms you, obeys you, but is not able to see you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings are for him, then glad tidings are for him, then glad tidings are for him." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over his hand and he stepped back.

Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: Mother! Narrate to me a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A bird flies according to its destiny (it does not decide anyone's fate)." And he liked good omens.

Abdullah bin Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take bad omens or evil augury from anything, but when he intended to appoint someone as an official and send him somewhere, he would ask his name. If he liked the name, he would become happy and signs of happiness would be visible on his face, and if he disliked the name, (signs of dislike) would appear on his face. Similarly, when he entered a village, he would ask its name; if it was a name he liked, he would become happy and signs of cheerfulness would appear, and if it was a name he disliked, signs of dislike would be visible on his face.

Saeed bin Musayyib says: I asked Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) about bad omens. He rebuked me and said: Who told you this? I disliked mentioning the name of the one who told me. Then he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“There is no contagious disease, no bad omen, and the owl’s cry has no effect. If there were to be any bad omen, it would be in the horse, the wife, and the house. When you hear that a plague has spread in a certain area, do not go there, and if you are in that area, do not leave it.”
