Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said,“O Messenger of Allah! I had sworn as many oaths as the number of my fingers that I would neither come to you nor accept your religion, but now I have come. I am a simple-minded person and I only know a few things that Allah and His Messenger have taught. Now, I ask you by Allah’s name: With what has your Lord sent you?”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“With Islam.”I said,“What are the signs of Islam?”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“That you say: I have submitted my face to Allah and surrendered to Him, and that you establish prayer and pay zakat. Every Muslim is sacred to another Muslim. (In this religion) two brothers help each other, and Allah does not accept any deed of a polytheist after he becomes Muslim until he leaves the polytheists and joins the Muslims.”

Sayyiduna Furat bin Hayan (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was a spy for Abu Sufyan and an ally of an Ansari. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered for me to be killed. I passed by a group of the Ansar and said: I am a Muslim. One of the Ansar said: O Messenger of Allah! He is saying that he is a Muslim? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "We entrust some of you to the faith of others among you; Furat bin Hayan is among them."

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I participated in a military expedition towards Najd with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned, I was also with him. While traveling, we reached a valley at the time of midday rest, in which there were many thorny trees. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) camped there, and the people scattered to seek shade under the trees. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came under an acacia tree and hung his sword on it. We fell asleep, when suddenly the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called us. When we reached him, we saw that a Bedouin was sitting near him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us: "I was asleep, and this Bedouin took my sword out of its sheath. When I woke up, my sword was drawn in his hand. He said to me: 'Who will protect you from me?' I said: 'Allah.' Look! Now he is sitting here (and could do me no harm)." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take any revenge on him.

Yazid bin Abdullah bin Khair says: We were sitting in Marbad when a disheveled-haired Bedouin came to us. He had a piece of a pouch made of skin or leather. We said: This man seems to be a townsman. He said: Yes, this is a letter, the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) wrote it for me. The people said: Give it to us. I took it and read it. It was written in it: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful... This letter is from the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) to Banu Zuhair bin Aqeesh. Banu Zuhair was a tribe of 'Ukl. If you bear witness that Allah alone is worthy of worship, establish prayer, pay zakat, separate yourselves from the polytheists, and give the fifth part of the spoils, the share of the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ), his chosen share, then you will be in the protection of Allah and the protection of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whatever brings you closer to Paradise, I have commanded you to do it, and whatever brings you closer to Hell, I have forbidden you from it. The Holy Spirit (i.e., Jibreel, peace be upon him) has inspired in my heart: No soul will die until it has completed its provision. So fear Allah and seek (your provision) with moderation. Do not let the delay in provision lead you to seek it through disobedience to Allah (remember!) Whatever is with Allah can only be attained through His obedience."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not think that sustenance is delayed; no person dies until he has completed (the sustenance written in his destiny). - (إني اجد نفس الرحمن من هنا- يشير إلى اليمن).
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Nufayl Sakuti (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came close to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so much so that my knees were touching his thighs. I said: O Messenger of Allah! People are becoming neglectful of horses, weapons have been put aside, and people have started to think that jihad has ended. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People are lying; fighting has just begun. A group from my ummah will remain steadfast upon the truth, prevailing over the people. Some people's hearts will continue to deviate, and they (the steadfast group) will keep fighting them and acquiring spoils of war from them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said, while his back was towards Yemen: "I am sensing the fragrance (or mercy) of the Most Merciful from this direction." At that time, he was pointing towards Yemen. "It has been revealed to me that I am not to remain (forever), but rather I will pass away. You people will follow after me group by group. (And remember that) goodness and blessing will remain suspended in the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection, and the horsemen will continue to endure hardships while riding them."

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah says: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in an army. A man passed by a low-lying place where there was also a spring of water. He thought that he should withdraw from the world and settle there; this water and the surrounding greenery would suffice for him. Then he decided: I will go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and present this matter before him. If he gives permission, fine; otherwise, not. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I passed by such-and-such a low-lying place; its water and greenery could suffice for my livelihood. I thought I would withdraw from the world and settle there. (What do you think?) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“I have not been sent with Judaism or Christianity; I have been sent with a gentle and easy Shari’ah. By Him in Whose hand is my soul! Going out in the morning or evening in the path of Allah is better than the world and whatever is in it, and standing in the row before the enemy is better than sixty prayers.”
