Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: A man came and said: I saw in a dream that my head was cut off and then it rolled away. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan comes to one of you and presents frightening images, and then in the morning he begins to narrate them to the people."

Abu Salih says: I was listening when Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about this verse. He said: Since I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this verse, no one has asked me about it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "No one before you has asked me about this. What is meant by it is a good dream, which a servant sees or is shown to him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I saw my Lord in a very beautiful form. Allah Almighty asked me: 'What are the chief angels disputing about?' I said: 'I do not know.' Then Allah Almighty placed His hand between my shoulders and I felt the coolness of His fingers. Then He asked: 'What are the chief angels discussing?' I said: 'About expiations and ranks.' Allah Almighty asked: 'What are expiations?' I said: 'Performing ablution properly, walking to the congregational prayers (towards the mosques), and waiting for one prayer after another.' Allah Almighty asked: 'What is meant by ranks?' I said: 'Feeding others, spreading greetings widely, and praying at night when people are asleep.' Then Allah Almighty said: 'Say.' I said: 'What should I say?' Allah Almighty said: 'Say: «اللهمّ! إنِّي أسألك عَمَلاً بالحسناتِ، وتركاً للمنكراتِ، وإذا أردتَ في قومٍ فتنةً وأنا فيهم؛ فاقبضني إليكَ غيرَ مفتونٍ» O Allah! I ask You for the ability to do good deeds and to abstain from evil deeds, and when You wish to put people to trial and I am present there, then grant me death while protecting me from the trial.'"

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A person is on the religion of his friend, so each of you should consider whom he is making his friend."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The affair of this Ummah will remain united, harmonious, (in unity and agreement), as long as they do not discuss (the issues of) children and destiny."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I asked my Lord for «لاهين» , and Allah Almighty granted them to me." I asked: "What is meant by «لاهين» ?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Human children."

Sayyiduna Aswad bin Sari’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and fought in jihad with him. One day, I suddenly killed some of the prominent people (of the opposing army), and the Mujahideen also killed their children. When this news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said:“What is wrong with the people that killing has exceeded its limits and even children have been slaughtered?”A man said: O Messenger of Allah! They are the children of the polytheists. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Even the best and chosen among you are the children of polytheists.”Then he said:“Beware! Do not kill children. Beware! Do not kill children. Every human is born upon (Islamic) nature, until his tongue makes it clear, then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that a man asked: O Messenger of Allah! Which are the major sins? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Associating partners with Allah, despairing of Allah's kindness, and losing hope in His mercy."

Sayyiduna Abu Razin (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Our Lord laughs at the despair of His servants and the nearness of the changing of their condition from Himself." Sayyiduna Abu Razin said: "Does Allah also laugh?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." Then he said: "We will never find goodness lacking with a Lord who laughs." And in another narration: "And Allah knows about the day of rain, He looks at you while you are in a state of distress, despair, and fear, so He begins to laugh, for indeed He knows that the change of your (difficult) condition (to ease) is near."

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the news of Najashi’s death was received, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Perform his funeral prayer.”The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! How can we perform the funeral prayer for an Abyssinian man who was not a Muslim? In response, Allah the Exalted revealed this verse:“Indeed, among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah and in what was revealed to you and what was revealed to them, being humble before Allah, and they do not exchange the verses of Allah for a small price.”(Surah Aal-e-Imran: 199)
