Virtues of Abdullah ibn Umar.
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that during the blessed life of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when anyone saw a dream, he would relate it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I also wished that I would see a dream and relate it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I was a young, unmarried boy, and during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I used to sleep in the mosque. I saw in a dream that two angels took hold of me and led me towards Hell. I saw that it was like a deep well, layered upon layers, and over it were two wooden beams like those placed over a well. There were some people in it whom I recognized. I began to say, "I seek refuge in Allah from Hell, I seek refuge in Allah from Hell," three times. Then I met another angel who said, "You have nothing to fear." I related this dream to Umm al-Mu'mineen Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her). She then related it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Abdullah is a good man if only he would pray Tahajjud at night." Salim said that after that, Abdullah would sleep only a little part of the night (and would spend the rest in prayer).

So Sayyiduna Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made us ride (with him) and left you (behind) (because there was not enough space on the mount).

Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My brother and I came from Yemen, and for a time we considered Abdullah bin Mas'ud and his mother to be among the family of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because they used to visit him frequently and stay with him.

Abu’l-Ahwas says: We were in the house of Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), and there were several companions of Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) there, and they were looking at a copy of the Qur’an, when suddenly Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up. Abu Mas’ud said: I do not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left behind anyone after him who knew the Qur’an better than the person who has just stood up. Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you say this (then it is correct), and his condition was such that when we were absent, he was present, and when we were prevented, he was granted permission (to go to the Messenger of Allah).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "And whoever conceals anything, he will bring it forth on the Day of Resurrection." (Surah: Aal-e-Imran: 161) Then he said: "To whose recitation do you command me to recite the Qur'an? I have recited more than seventy surahs before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) know that I am most knowledgeable of Allah's Book among them. And if I knew that anyone was more knowledgeable of Allah's Book than me, I would travel to him." Shafeeq said: "I have sat in the circles of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him); I have not heard anyone rejecting the statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) or finding fault with him."

Masruq says: We were with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) when we mentioned Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them). He said: You have mentioned a person whom I have loved ever since I heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard him say: Learn the Qur'an from four people: from the son of Umm Abd (i.e., Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud)—and he (the Prophet) started with him—and from Ubayy bin Ka'b, and from Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah, and from Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with them).

Virtues of Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Haram.
Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: My father was martyred on the day of Uhud, so I would lift the cloth from his face and weep. People would stop me, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not stop me. And Amr's daughter Fatimah (that is, my paternal aunt) was also weeping over him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whether you weep or not, until you lifted him up, the angels were shading him with their wings.
