It is narrated from Ziyad bin Jubair that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw a man who had made his camel sit down (for sacrifice). He said, "Make it stand up and tie it with a rope, then perform nahr (i.e., slaughter it), because this is the Sunnah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the ‘Umrah of Ji‘irrana, he appointed Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) as the leader of the people for Hajj. We went with him until, when we reached the place of ‘Arj, the call to prayer for Fajr was given. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up to pronounce the takbir for prayer, when suddenly he heard the sound of a camel behind him, so he paused and said:“This is the sound of the camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), al-Jad‘a’. Perhaps the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has decided to come for Hajj himself, and if he has come, we will pray behind him.”Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) appeared on that camel. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“Have you come as a leader or with a message?”He replied:“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent me with a message to recite Surah Bara’ah during Hajj.”Then, we reached Makkah one day before Yawm al-Tarwiyah (the 7th of Dhul-Hijjah). Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and delivered a sermon, explaining the rites of Hajj to the people. When he finished, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and recited Surah Bara’ah to the end. Then, on the Day of Sacrifice, the 10th (of Dhul-Hijjah), when we returned from Mina (from ‘Arafat) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) also came, he again delivered a sermon, explaining the rules of returning and sacrifice. When he finished, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and recited Surah Bara’ah to the people until he completed it. Then, on the first day of departure (the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and explained how to depart, how to perform the stoning, and explained all the rites. When he finished his speech, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and recited Surah Bara’ah to the people until he completed it.

Hadith Number: 1954
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When, on the day of sacrifice at Mina, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was seated on a camel—I do not remember whether it was a camel or a she-camel—and a companion was holding its rein, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What day is this today?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We remained silent, thinking perhaps you (peace and blessings be upon him) would give this day another name. He said: "Is it not the day of sacrifice?" We replied: Yes, indeed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What month is this?" We remained silent, thinking perhaps you (peace and blessings be upon him) would give this month another name. He said: "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?" We replied: Yes, it is Dhul-Hijjah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What city is this?" We remained silent, thinking perhaps you (peace and blessings be upon him) would give it another name. But he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is it not the sacred city?" We replied: Why not, indeed it is. After that, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to you just as the sanctity of this day, in this month, in this city. Let the one who is present convey this message to the one who is absent, for perhaps the one who is present may convey it to someone who will remember it better than he does."

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Lady Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) began menstruating when the day of departure arrived, so she said in her own language: "What misfortune is this?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you not perform the Tawaf on the Day of Sacrifice?" She replied: "Yes, I have performed the (Ziyarat) Tawaf." He said: "Then proceed, mount (your ride)."

Zaid bin Yathi’ said: We asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): With what message did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) send you? He replied: I was sent with four things. First, that only a believing soul will enter Paradise; second, that no one should perform Tawaf of the House of Allah naked; third, that after this year, disbelievers and Muslims will not gather together for Hajj; fourth, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and whoever has a treaty with him for a specified period, their treaty will remain for that period, and for those whose treaty has no specified period, they are given respite for four months. He says that after the Day of Sacrifice, they were given respite until the twentieth of Dhul-Hijjah, after which the command was that after four months, they should be killed.

The Muhajir said: Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about raising hands at the Ka'bah, so he replied that the Jews used to do so. We performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and did not do so (i.e., did not raise hands).
