It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), at that time Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The obligation of Hajj has been imposed by Allah upon my father, but he has become so old that he cannot even sit on a mount. If I perform Hajj on his behalf, will it be fulfilled? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! You may perform Hajj on behalf of your father."

Muhammad bin Ubaid Makki (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once people said to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): "These days, there is a man among us who denies predestination (qadar)." He replied: "I already knew about this." At that time, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) had lost his eyesight. People asked: "O Abu al-Abbas! What will you do about him?" He said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If I gain power over him, I will cut off his nose, and if his neck comes into my hand, I will break it, because I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'I am seeing with my own eyes the time when the polytheist women of Banu Fihr will perform tawaf with the people of Khazraj and their buttocks will be moving. This will be the beginning of shirk in this ummah. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the evil of their opinion will surely reach these people until Allah removes them from that state in which He decides good for them, just as He removed them from that state in which He decided evil for them.'"

Someone asked Imam Zuhri, may Allah have mercy on him: Is it obligatory to perform ghusl (ritual bath) on Friday? He narrated with his chain of transmission from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, this hadith: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, "Whoever among you comes for Friday (prayer), he should perform ghusl." And Tawus says: Once I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that people think the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Even if you are not in a state of janabah, still perform ghusl on Friday, wash your head, and apply perfume"? Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: As for perfume, I do not know about that, but the matter of ghusl is correct.
