It is narrated from the same chain of transmission that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if I did not think that the Muslims would fall into hardship, I would never stay behind from any expedition sent out in the way of Allah. But I do not find enough mounts on which I could make them ride, and they do not have enough means to follow me, and their hearts would not be content, and after me, they would begin to stay behind from participating in jihad.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I wish that I fight in the path of Allah and attain martyrdom, then be granted life again, and participate in jihad and be martyred, then participate in jihad and be martyred again.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been commanded to go to a town which will consume all other towns, and it will remove people's sins just as a blacksmith's furnace removes the impurities of iron.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is backbiting?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Backbiting is that you mention about your brother something which he dislikes." Someone asked, "Tell us, if that fault is actually present in my brother which I mention in his absence, then what is the ruling?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If the fault you mention is present in him, then you have backbitten him, and if the fault you mention is not present in him, then you have slandered him."

Abu Uthman (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) was on a journey. The people camped at a place and sent for Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) to come and eat. At that time, he was performing prayer. He sent word through the messenger that he was fasting. So the people began to eat. When they were about to finish eating, Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) also arrived and started eating. The people began to look at the messenger. He said, "Why are you staring at me? He himself told me that he was fasting." Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "He is telling the truth. I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Fasting the complete month of Ramadan and three days in every month is equal to fasting the whole year.' Therefore, I fast three days every month. When I do not fast, I am under the shade of Allah's concession, and when I fast, I am under the shade of Allah's multiplication (the reward of every deed being doubled)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of the Battle of Khaybar: "I will give this flag to the person who loves Allah and His Messenger, and victory of this fort will be achieved at his hands." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says that before this, I never had a desire for leadership, but in the hope that perhaps the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would hand the flag to me, I began to raise my neck and look around. But when the next day came, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Hazrat Ali (may Allah honor his face) and handed the flag to him and said, "Fight them and do not turn your attention elsewhere until victory is achieved." So he set out, and after going a little distance, he called out and asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), how long should I fight them?" He replied, "Until they bear witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. When they do so, they have protected their lives and property from me except for the right of this word, and their reckoning is with Allah."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the month of Ramadan would approach, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: The month of Ramadan is coming to you; it is a blessed month. Allah has made its fasting obligatory upon you. In this blessed month, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained. In this month, there is a night which is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its goodness and blessings is truly deprived.
