It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umair that one day we were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man came with a tray of dates. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Is this charity?" He replied, "Charity." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed it among the people. At that time, Sayyiduna Imam Hasan was also rolling about in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he was a child. He took a date and put it in his mouth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his finger in his mouth, took out the date, and set it aside, and said: "Charity is not lawful for us, the family of Muhammad."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah that I was among the people of Suffah when one day the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) asked for a loaf of bread, placed it in a bowl, broke it into pieces, poured water that was already kept there over it, then mixed that water into it and began to stir it. Then, after softening it, he said: Go, bring ten men to me, of whom you will be the tenth yourself. I brought them. The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: Eat, and eat from below, not from above, because blessing descends on the upper part. So all of them ate that food and were satisfied.
