It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Amr bin Jamuh (may Allah be pleased with him), who had a limp in his leg, came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Tell me, if I fight in the way of Allah and am martyred, will I be able to walk in Paradise with a sound leg?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" Then, on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the polytheists martyred him, his nephew, and a freed slave. When the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by them, he said, "I see you walking in Paradise with this leg of yours, sound and whole." Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered regarding the two of them and their slave, and the people buried them all in one grave.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led a funeral prayer, and I was also present. I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicating: O Allah! Forgive our living and our deceased, those present and those absent, our young and our old, and our men and our women. Abu Salamah has also narrated this addition: O Allah! Whomever You keep alive from among us, keep him alive upon Islam, and whomever You cause to die from among us, cause him to die upon faith.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was called for a funeral prayer, he would first inquire about the opinion of the people regarding the deceased. If the people mentioned him with goodness, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand and lead his funeral prayer. But if he was mentioned with badness, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say to his family, "Take him away and perform his funeral prayer yourselves," and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not lead his funeral prayer.
