It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a detachment towards Ghaiqah and Waddan. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the state of Ihram, but Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) had not put on Ihram. Suddenly, I saw a wild donkey. I requested them to hand me a whip, but they refused to help me because they were in the state of Ihram. Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) quickly took a whip from one of them and hunted that wild donkey. The people ate it, and when we met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of Abwa, we submitted that we had done something whose reality we do not know. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Feed us from it as well.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say from the pulpit regarding the Ansar: "Behold! People are like an outer garment for me, and the Ansar are like an inner garment for me (which is in contact with the body). If people walk on one path and the Ansar on another, I will walk on the path of the Ansar. If there had been no migration, I would have been one of the Ansar myself. Therefore, whoever becomes responsible for the affairs of the Ansar should treat their righteous well and overlook the faults of their wrongdoers. And whoever frightens them, frightens the one who is between these two pillars," meaning the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself.
