بَابُ التَّقْصِيرِ
Shortening the Hair
Hadith Number: 891
وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن نافع ،" ان عبد الله بن عمر ، كان إذا حلق في حج او عمرة اخذ من لحيته وشاربه"
It is narrated from Hazrat Nafi that when Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would shave his head during Hajj or Umrah, he would also trim his beard and moustache.

Hadith Number: 892
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن ربيعة بن ابي عبد الرحمن ، ان رجلا اتى القاسم بن محمد، فقال: إني افضت وافضت معي باهلي، ثم عدلت إلى شعب، فذهبت لادنو من اهلي، فقالت: إني لم اقصر من شعري بعد، فاخذت من شعرها باسناني، ثم وقعت بها، فضحك القاسم ، وقال: " مرها فلتاخذ من شعرها بالجلمين" .
It is narrated from Rabi'ah bin Abi Abdur Rahman that a man came to Qasim bin Muhammad and said, "I performed the Tawaf al-Ifadah and my wife also performed the Tawaf al-Ifadah. Then I went towards a valley to have intercourse with my wife. She said, 'I have not yet cut my hair.' So I cut her hair with my teeth and then had intercourse with her." Qasim bin Muhammad laughed and said, "Order your wife to cut her hair with scissors."

Hadith Number: 892B
قال مالك: استحب في مثل هذا ان يهرق دما، وذلك ان عبد الله بن عباس، قال:" من نسي من نسكه شيئا، فليهرق دما"
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that in my view, it is preferable that the man offers one sacrifice, because Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: Whoever forgets any pillar from the pillars of Hajj, then he should offer one sacrifice.

Hadith Number: 893
وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن نافع ، عن عبد الله بن عمر ، انه لقي رجلا من اهله، يقال له: المجبر، قد افاض، ولم يحلق، ولم يقصر جهل ذلك،" فامره عبد الله ان يرجع، فيحلق، او يقصر، ثم يرجع إلى البيت، فيفيض"
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) met one of his relatives whose name was Mujbir (he was the nephew of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, the son of Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both). He had performed the Tawaf al-Ifadah but, out of ignorance, had neither shaved his head nor shortened his hair. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) instructed him to return, shave or shorten his hair, and then repeat the Tawaf az-Ziyarah.

Hadith Number: 894
وحدثني، عن مالك، انه بلغه، ان سالم بن عبد الله،" كان إذا اراد ان يحرم دعا بالجلمين، فقص شاربه، واخذ من لحيته قبل ان يركب، وقبل ان يهل محرما"
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, was informed that Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar, when he intended to enter into ihram, would call for scissors and trim his moustache and beard before mounting his ride and before saying the talbiyah, after tying the ihram.

بَابُ التَّلْبِيدِ
Applying Gum to the Hair
Hadith Number: 895
حدثني حدثني يحيى، عن مالك، عن نافع ، عن عبد الله بن عمر ، ان عمر بن الخطاب ، قال: " من ضفر راسه، فليحلق، ولا تشبهوا بالتلبيد"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever plaits his hair (at the time of Ihram), he should shave his head when exiting Ihram, and do not plait the hair in such a way that it resembles talbeed.

Hadith Number: 896
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن يحيى بن سعيد ، عن سعيد بن المسيب ، ان عمر بن الخطاب ، قال: " من عقص راسه، او ضفر او لبد، فقد وجب عليه الحلاق"
It is narrated from Sa'id bin al-Musayyib that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Whoever ties, plaits, or applies gum or does talbeed to the hair (at the time of Ihram), then it becomes obligatory upon him to shave his head.

Prayer in the House, Shortening Prayer, and Hastening the Sermon at Arafah
Hadith Number: 897
حدثني يحيى، عن مالك، عن نافع ، عن عبد الله بن عمر : ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم دخل الكعبة هو واسامة بن زيد، وبلال بن رباح، وعثمان بن طلحة الحجبي، فاغلقها عليه، ومكث فيها، قال عبد الله: فسالت بلالا حين خرج ما صنع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فقال: " جعل عمودا عن يمينه، وعمودين عن يساره، وثلاثة اعمدة وراءه، وكان البيت يومئذ على ستة اعمدة، ثم صلى"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered inside the noble Ka'bah, and with him were Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Bilal bin Rabah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Uthman bin Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), so the door was closed. And they remained there. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) when they came out, "What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do?" He said: He placed one pillar to his left, two pillars to his right, and three pillars behind him, and in those days there were six pillars in the Ka'bah, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer.

Hadith Number: 898
وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن ابن شهاب ، عن سالم بن عبد الله ، انه قال: كتب عبد الملك بن مروان إلى الحجاج بن يوسف، ان لا تخالف عبد الله بن عمر في شيء من امر الحج، قال: فلما كان يوم عرفة، جاءه عبد الله بن عمر حين زالت الشمس، وانا معه، فصاح به عند سرادقه، اين هذا؟ فخرج عليه الحجاج وعليه ملحفة معصفرة، فقال: مالك، يا ابا عبد الرحمن؟ فقال:" الرواح، إن كنت تريد السنة"، فقال: اهذه الساعة؟ قال:" نعم"، قال: فانظرني حتى افيض علي ماء، ثم اخرج، فنزل عبد الله حتى خرج الحجاج فسار بيني وبين ابي، فقلت له:" إن كنت تريد ان تصيب السنة اليوم، فاقصر الخطبة، وعجل الصلاة"، قال: فجعل ينظر إلى عبد الله بن عمر، كيما يسمع ذلك منه، فلما راى ذلك عبد الله، قال:" صدق سالم"
It is narrated from Hazrat Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar that Abdul Malik bin Marwan (when he was the caliph) wrote to Hajjaj bin Yusuf (the cruel and bloodthirsty Thaqafi, when he had come to fight against Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair, may Allah be pleased with him, and after martyring him had become the ruler of Makkah) that he should not oppose Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, in any matter of the rites of Hajj. Salim said: When the day of Arafah came, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, came as soon as the sun declined, and I was with him, and he called out near the tent of Hajjaj, saying, "Where is Hajjaj?" So Hajjaj came out, wearing a cloak dyed with safflower, and said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! What is it?" He replied, "If you wish to follow the Sunnah, then come." Hajjaj said, "Now?" He said, "Yes, now." Hajjaj said, "Give me a little time so that I may bathe, then I will come out." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, dismounted from his ride, then Hajjaj came out and stood between me and my father, Sayyiduna Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him. I said to him, "If you wish to follow the Sunnah, then today make the sermon short and perform the prayer quickly." He began to look towards Sayyiduna Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, so that he might hear from him. When Sayyiduna Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, saw this, he said, "Salim has spoken the truth."

بَابُ الصَّلَاةِ بِمِنًى يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ وَالْجُمُعَةِ بِمِنًى وَعَرَفَةَ
Prayer at Mina on the Day of Tarwiyah and Friday at Mina and Arafah
Hadith Number: 899
حدثني حدثني يحيى، عن مالك، عن نافع ،" ان عبد الله بن عمر ، كان يصلي الظهر والعصر والمغرب والعشاء والصبح بمنى، ثم يغدو إذا طلعت الشمس إلى عرفة" .
It is narrated from Nafi that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, used to perform the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers in Mina. Then, in the morning, when the sun would rise, he would proceed to Arafat.
