Imam Abu Bakr, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I do not consider it permissible for anyone to narrate this hadith from me except in this wording. Because this chain is reversed and resembles the authentic one. Abu Dawood bin Qais has omitted Abu Saeed Maqburi from the chain and narrated it directly from Sayyiduna Abu Thumamah through the chain of Saad bin Ishaq. Whereas Ibn ‘Ajlan made a mistake in this chain and mixed it up. Therefore, sometimes he narrates this narration from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, sometimes he narrates it as mursal, and sometimes (instead of Saad) he narrates it as Saeed from Ka’b. Whereas Ibn Abi Dhi’b has narrated that Saeed bin Abi Saeed Maqburi narrated from a man of Banu Salim. In my view, that man is Saad bin Ishaq, but he made a mistake regarding Saad bin Ishaq and said that Saad narrates from his father and he from their grandfather Ka’b. Whereas Dawood bin Qais and Anas bin ‘Ayyad both agree that this narration is narrated from Hazrat Abu Thumamah.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution and then sets out with the intention of offering prayer, he remains in the ruling of prayer until he returns home, so he should not do this—that is, he should not intertwine his fingers with each other."

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you performs ablution at home and then comes to the mosque (for prayer), he remains in prayer until he returns. Therefore, he should not do this," and the Prophet (peace be upon him) interlaced his fingers (i.e., demonstrated by interlocking his fingers).

Hadith Number: 448
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he (one night) slept at the house of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He says that (in the morning) when the mu’adhdhin came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Prophet (peace be upon him) set out for prayer reciting this supplication «‏‏‏‏اللَٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ فِي لِسَانِىْ نُورًا, وَاجْعَلْ فِي سَمْعِي نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ فِي بَصَرِي نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ مِنْ خَلْفِيْ نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ مِنْ أَمَامِيْ نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ مِنْ فَوْقِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ تَحْتِي نُورًا، اللَّهُمَّ عَظِّمْ لِىْ نُوْرًا» ‏‏‏‏:“O Allah, place light in my heart, and light in my tongue, and light in my hearing, and light in my sight. Place light before me, light above me, and light beneath me. O Allah, make light great for me.”Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that my heart is not satisfied with this chain of narration, because Habib bin Abi Thabit is a mudallis, and I do not know whether Habib heard this narration from Muhammad bin Ali or not. Then I reflected (on the narrations) and (found that) Abu Awanah narrates this hadith from Habib bin Abi Thabit through Husayn, and he says «‏‏‏‏حدثني محمد بن علي» ‏‏‏‏:“Muhammad bin Ali narrated this hadith to me”(i.e., the mudallis has explicitly stated his hearing).

Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that there was an Ansari man whose house was the farthest in Madinah (from Masjid Nabawi), yet he never missed the congregational prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). (Due to his difficulty) I felt sorry for him. So I said to him, "O so-and-so, if you buy a donkey (it would be much better for you), it will protect you from the scorching hot ground, save you from stumbling, and protect you from the earth's insects and pests." He replied, "By Allah, I do not wish that my house should be adjacent to the house of Muhammad (peace be upon him)." He says, "This was hard for me to accept until I went to the Noble Messenger (peace be upon him) and mentioned this to him." He says, "So the Prophet (peace be upon him) called him and asked him about it, and he replied in the same way and said that he hoped for reward in walking to the mosque." So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to him, 'Indeed, you will get the reward for which you have hoped.'"

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that some land near the Prophet’s Mosque became vacant, so the Banu Salamah intended to move closer to the mosque. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was informed of their intention, he said:“O Banu Salamah, have you intended to move closer to the mosque?”They replied,“Yes.”The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“O Banu Salamah, remain in your homes; your footsteps are recorded.”(That is, the reward for walking to the mosque is written.) The Prophet (peace be upon him) said this three times. I have explained the complete chapter on walking towards the mosques in the Book of Imamah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came for prayer while the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was leading us in prayer. When he reached the row, he made this supplication, «‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ آتِنِي أَفْضَلَ مَا تُؤْتِيعِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ» ‏‏‏‏“O Allah, grant me a rank better than what You will grant to Your righteous servants.”Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) completed the prayer, he asked:“Who was speaking just now?”That person replied,“O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), it was me.”So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Then the legs of your fine horse will be cut off and you will be martyred in the way of Allah.”
