147 Subchapter: Giving money with the intention of charity
Even if he is not informed that this is charity (There is no hadith present under this chapter)
148 Subchapter: Prophet favored charity of the poor if surplus to dependents, not if given to strangers while dependents are left hungry
Hadith Number: 2451
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he asked: O Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ), which charity is the best? The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) replied: "The charity given by a person of little means from his hard-earned money is the best, and begin by spending on those whose maintenance is your responsibility."

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "When any one of you is in need and poor, he should first spend on himself. Then if any wealth remains, he should spend on his family. If wealth still remains, he should spend it on his close relatives. If after that there is still surplus wealth, he should distribute it among the needy here and there."

149 Subchapter: Warning against criticizing the poor for giving little charity
Hadith Number: Q2453
And his censure, and the prohibition against accusing the one who gives much charity of showing off and seeking reputation, for Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—is the Knower of the intention of the one who intends, and there is no intention except what the hearts conceal, and Allah has not made His servants aware of what is in the consciences of others regarding intention.
Hadith Number: 2453
Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we used to work for wages. So when someone would bring a large charity, it would be said that he is showing off, and if someone would bring half a sa’ as charity, it would be said that surely Allah is free of need from this person’s half sa’. So this verse was revealed «الَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ الْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ» [ سورة التوبة: 79 ] “Those who criticize the believers who give charity willingly, and those who find nothing to give except their effort (small amount from their labor).”

150 Subchapter: Virtue of charity by a healthy, stingy person fearing poverty, hoping for long life, over charity by a dying person
Hadith Number: 2454
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), which charity is the greatest in reward?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "That you give charity while you are healthy, desiring wealth, fearing poverty, and hoping for life. Do not delay until the soul reaches the throat, then you say, 'Give so much to so-and-so, and so much to so-and-so.' By then, it has already become the property of others." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that these words, "by then, it has already become the property of others," refer to the same issue about which it is said that when the time is near, it is permissible to say that the time has come, and "dakhala al-waqt" (the time has come) is said when the time is near, and this wealth has become the property of others even if the time has not yet come. Because the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that "this wealth has now become the property of others" means that the person's death is now near, as the soul is at the throat, so this wealth will now go to others. It does not mean that before his soul departs, this wealth has already become the property of others. In the same way, the statement of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed so-and-so is his heir.

151 Subchapter: Virtue of giving charity from one’s most beloved wealth
Hadith Number: Q2455
Because Allah Almighty has denied the attainment of virtue for the person who does not give charity from his favorite wealth. Allah Almighty says: «لَن تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِن شَيْءٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّـهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ» [ آل عمران: 92] "You will never attain righteousness until you spend in the way of Allah from that which you love."
Hadith Number: 2455
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when this verse was revealed «لَن تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ» [ سورة آل عمران: 92 ] , Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was sitting on the pulpit. He said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), of all my gardens, the garden of Bairuha is the most beloved to me." So the Noble Prophet said, "Bairuha is perishable wealth (while its reward will remain), or he said, Bairuha is a very profitable garden." The narrator is unsure about this. So Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I seek the nearness of Allah Almighty through this garden." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Distribute it among your relatives." Thus, Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) distributed the orchards of this garden among his relatives. I have mentioned the narration of Thabit and Humaid bin Anas elsewhere.

152 Subchapter: Allah’s hidden love for charity
Hadith Number: Q2456
Because Allah Almighty has given preference to secret charity over open charity. Allah Almighty says: «إِن تُبْدُوا الصَّدَقَاتِ فَنِعِمَّا هِيَ ۖ وَإِن تُخْفُوهَا وَتُؤْتُوهَا الْفُقَرَاءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۚ» [ سورة البقرة: 271 ] "If you give charity openly, it is good; but if you give charity secretly to the poor, it is much better for you."
Hadith Number: 2456
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "There are three types of people whom Allah loves, and three types of people whom Allah dislikes. As for those whom Allah loves, the first is the person who comes to a people and asks them in the name of Allah, not because of any kinship with them. Then one of those people goes behind the others and secretly gives him wealth, such that only Allah and the recipient know of his gift. The second are those who travel throughout the night until sleep becomes the most beloved thing to them, so they all dismount and sleep, but this person stands up and begins to weep before Me and recite My verses. The third is the person who is in a battle, and when the army faces the enemy, the army is defeated, but this person stands firm against the enemy until he is killed or Allah grants him victory. And the three types of people whom Allah dislikes are: an old adulterer, a poor person who is arrogant and proud, and a wealthy oppressor."
