Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill to the extent that he lost consciousness, and his head was in the lap of one of his wives (Umm Abdullah bint Abi Rumah). (She let out a loud scream and began to weep.) Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) could not say anything at that time, but when he regained consciousness, he said: "I disassociate myself from the act from which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) disassociated himself. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) expressed his disapproval of women who, in times of grief, wail loudly, shave their heads, or tear their collars."

Hadith Number: 68
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: There are three types of people to whom Allah will not even look on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and for them there will be a painful punishment: First, a person who has surplus water on the road but withholds it from a traveler in need; second, a person who pledges allegiance to a ruler only for worldly gain—if the ruler gives him something, he is pleased, but if not, he becomes displeased; third, a person who brings his merchandise for sale after Asr prayer and swears by Allah—besides whom there is no true deity—that he was offered such and such a price for it, so someone believes him and buys it at that price. Then the Prophet recited this verse: "Indeed, those who exchange Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them nor look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and for them is a painful punishment." (__QUR_3:77__)

Chapter: Seriousness of Suicide; Whoever Kills Himself Will Be Punished With It in Hell; Only a Muslim Soul Enters Paradise
Hadith Number: 69
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever throws himself from a mountain and commits suicide, he will be in the Fire of Hell, falling down in it forever and ever. And whoever drinks poison and kills himself, his poison will be in his hand and he will be sipping it in the Fire of Hell forever and ever. And whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, that weapon will be in his hand and he will be stabbing himself in the stomach with it in the Fire of Hell forever and ever.

Sayyiduna Thabit bin Dhahak (may Allah be pleased with him) was among the Companions of the Tree (those who pledged allegiance at Ridwan). He narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam (saying, "If I do such-and-such, then I am a Christian, a Jew"), then he will become as he said. And a vow is not valid for a person regarding things that are not within his control. And whoever commits suicide with anything in this world will be punished with that same thing in the Hereafter. And whoever curses a Muslim, it is as if he has shed his blood, and whoever calls a Muslim a disbeliever, it is as if he has killed him.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a battle. He said about a man who claimed to be a Muslim, "This person is among the people of Hell." When the battle began, that man fought very bravely (on the side of the Muslims), and he was also wounded. The companions said, "O Messenger of Allah, the one about whom you said he would go to Hell, today he fought with great courage and (after being wounded) has also died." The Prophet still gave the same reply, "He has gone to Hell." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, it was possible that some people might have developed some doubt in their hearts, but while people were still pondering over this, someone informed that he had not died yet, but his wound was severe. Then, when night came, he could not bear the pain of his wounds and committed suicide. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of this, he said, "Allahu Akbar! I bear witness that I am Allah's servant and His Messenger." Then he ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he announced among the people that no one except a Muslim will enter Paradise, and Allah, at times, helps His religion even through a wicked person.

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) encountered the polytheists (with his companions in the battle of Uhud or Khaybar) and fighting broke out. Then, when you (after finishing the fighting that day) returned to your camp and the polytheists to theirs, there was a man with your army whose state in fighting was such that whenever he saw any man from the polytheists anywhere, he would chase him and kill him with his sword. Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said about him that today, as zealously as so-and-so fought, none among us could fight like that. Upon this, you said,“But that man is from the people of Hellfire.”One of the Muslims (in his heart) said,“Alright, I will follow him (to see why the Prophet, peace be upon him, called him from the people of Hellfire).”He narrated that he stayed with him (present in the fighting the next day). Whenever he stood, this man would also stand, and when he walked fast, he would also walk fast with him. He narrated that eventually, that man was wounded, and the wound was very deep, so he wished for death to come quickly. He placed the edge of his sword on the ground, turned its blade towards his chest, and fell upon the sword, killing himself. Now that companion came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said,“I bear witness that you are truly the Messenger of Allah.”You asked,“What happened?”He narrated,“That same man about whom you said he is from the people of Hellfire—your statement was very hard on the companions (may Allah be pleased with them). I said to them, ‘On behalf of all of you, I will investigate about him.’ So I followed him. After that, the man was severely wounded and wished for death to come quickly, so he placed the edge of his sword on the ground, turned its blade towards his chest, and fell upon it, killing himself.”At that time, you said,“A man may do the deeds of the people of Paradise as it appears to people, but he is from the people of Hellfire; and a man may do the deeds of the people of Hellfire as it appears to people, but he is from the people of Paradise.”

Sayyiduna Jundub bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In times past, a man received a wound and suffered greatly from it. Eventually, he took a knife and cut his hand, as a result of which blood flowed and he died from it. Then Allah the Exalted said: My servant hastened himself to Me (by taking his own life), so I have made Paradise forbidden for him.

Hadith Number: 74
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when we conquered Khaybar, we did not find any gold or silver among the spoils of war, but rather cattle, camels, goods, and gardens. Then we returned with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to Wadi al-Qura. There was a slave named Mid'am with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who had been given to him as a gift by a companion from Banu Dubab. He was unloading the saddle of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when an arrow came from an unknown direction and struck him. The people said, "Congratulations on martyrdom!" But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Never! By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the cloak which he stole from the spoils of war at Khaybar before its distribution is now burning upon him as a flame of fire." Upon hearing this, another companion came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with one or two straps and said, "I had taken these." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This too becomes a strap of Hellfire."
