It is narrated from Hazrat Ikrimah that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made a treaty with the people of Makkah, the tribe of Khuza’ah were allies of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) even in the days of ignorance, and Banu Bakr were allies of the Quraysh. Therefore, (in this treaty as well) the people of Khuza’ah entered into the treaty of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Banu Bakr entered into the treaty of the Quraysh. Then, when there was a fight between Banu Khuza’ah and Banu Bakr, the Quraysh greatly helped Banu Bakr with weapons and food, and (as if) they sheltered them. Thus, Banu Bakr overpowered the tribe of Khuza’ah and Banu Bakr killed many people of the tribe of Khuza’ah. Then the Quraysh thought that they had broken their covenant (which they had made with the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him). So they said to Abu Sufyan: Go to Muhammad and renew the treaty and make peace among the people.
2. Abu Sufyan set out until he reached Madinah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, Abu Sufyan is coming to you, and soon he will return without having fulfilled his need. So Abu Sufyan presented himself to Hazrat Abu Bakr and said: O Abu Bakr! Maintain the treaty and let there be peace among the people. Or he said these words: … let there be peace among your people. Hazrat Abu Bakr replied: This matter is not in my power; it is in the power of Allah and His Messenger. The narrator says: Among the things Abu Sufyan said to Hazrat Abu Bakr was this: It is not the case that if a people help another people with weapons and food and shelter them, they are breakers of the covenant. Hazrat Abu Bakr replied: This matter is in the power of Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
3. Then Abu Sufyan went to Hazrat Umar bin Khattab and said to him the same things he had said to Hazrat Abu Bakr. The narrator says: Hazrat Umar asked him: Have you broken the covenant? So, regarding this new matter, Allah has made it old, and the strong and firm matter, Allah has broken it. Abu Sufyan says: I have never seen the people like I saw them that day. Then Abu Sufyan presented himself to Hazrat Fatimah and said: O Fatimah! Will you do that by which you will become the leader of the women of your people? Then Abu Sufyan mentioned to her the same thing he had said to Hazrat Abu Bakr. Hazrat Fatimah replied: This matter is not in my power (rather) this matter is in the power of Allah and His Messenger. Then Abu Sufyan presented himself to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said the same thing he had said to Hazrat Abu Bakr. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: I have not seen a misguided man like the man of today! You are the leader of the people, so you maintain the treaty and make peace among the people. The narrator says: Abu Sufyan struck one of his hands on the other and said: Indeed, I have granted protection to some people from among the people.
4. Then Abu Sufyan set out until he reached the people of Makkah and informed them of what he had done. So they said (in response): By Allah! We have never seen a representative of the people like the man of today. By Allah! You have not brought us news of war so that we may prepare for it, nor have you brought us news of peace so that we may feel secure. (Therefore) you should return.
5. The narrator says: (Meanwhile) a delegation from the tribe of Khuza’ah reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of what the polytheists of Makkah had done and called him for help, and he expressed this in these verses: O Allah! I remind Muhammad of the old covenant between him and their forefathers. And (the fact that) you are the father and we are the sons. Indeed, the Quraysh have broken their promise with you. And they have broken your firm covenant and have ambushed us at the place of Kadā’. And they thought that I would not call anyone (for help). Even though they are few in number and humiliated. They attacked us at the place of Waneer in the morning while we were reciting the Qur’an in the state of bowing and prostration. We have accepted Islam and have not withdrawn our hand. So … O Messenger of Allah … help us strongly. And urge the armies of Allah, for they are at your service for help such as

It is narrated from Hazrat Zakariya bin Abi Zaida that I was with Abu Ishaq between Makkah and Madinah. Then a man from Banu Khuza’ah came to us. Abu Ishaq said to him,“How did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say this statement: ‘Indeed, this cloud is thundering for the help of Banu Ka’b’?”So that Khuza’i man replied,“Indeed, this cloud had decided to help Banu Ka’b.”Then that Khuza’i showed us a letter which was from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to Khuza’ah. And I wrote that letter on the same day. It was written in it:“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This letter is from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), to Budeel, Basr, and the chiefs of Banu Amr. So indeed, I praise before you that God besides whom there is no deity. Anyway, after this, I have not broken your covenant, nor have I made your land permissible (for others). And among the people of Tihamah, you are the most honored to me. And the closest in kinship. And (likewise) those who have followed you (i.e., Banu Hashim, Banu Zuhrah, etc.). And I have made the same covenant for the emigrants among you as I have made for myself. And if any of you migrates from his land in such a way that he does not reside there except for Hajj and Umrah, if you accept peace, then I will not give any command concerning you. And you will neither be afraid nor besieged from my side.
2. As for what follows! So indeed, Alqamah bin Alathah and Ibn Hawzah have accepted Islam and they, along with their follower ... Ikrimah ... have migrated. And for them also, he has made the same covenant as he has made for himself. And among us, some are under the command of others in terms of what is lawful and unlawful. And by Allah, I have not denied you, so may your Lord grant you life.
3. The narrator states: I heard from Zuhri that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“These people are from Khuza’ah, and they are from my family.”The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote a letter to them. These people were encamped between Arafat and Makkah at that time. And these people were allies of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of the conquest of Makkah: Except for Khuza'ah, restrain (the rest of) Banu Bakr from weapons. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave permission to Khuza'ah until they had performed the Asr prayer, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them: You (also) restrain from weapons. After this, the next day, a man from Banu Khuza'ah met a man from Banu Bakr and killed the man from Banu Bakr at Muzdalifah. This news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he stood up to deliver a sermon and said: The person who is the most hostile to Allah among the people is the one who kills (someone) in the Haram, and (the one) who kills anyone other than his killer, and (the one) who kills in revenge from the days of ignorance.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that we entered Makkah with the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and also entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah), and around the House of Allah there were three hundred and sixty idols which were worshipped besides Allah... The narrator states: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered regarding those idols, so all the idols were thrown down on their faces. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Truth has come and falsehood has vanished; indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the House of Allah and performed two units of prayer inside the House of Allah. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw pictures attributed to Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq inside the House of Allah, in such a state that the polytheists had drawn images of arrows in their hands, by which lots were cast. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), upon seeing this scene, said: "May Allah destroy them (the polytheists); Ibrahim did not cast lots with arrows." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for saffron and, using it, erased those images.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began striking them with the stick that was in his hand and said: "Truth has come and falsehood has vanished; indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish." It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took me along with him until he brought me to the Ka'bah. Then he said, "Sit down." So I sat down on one side of the Ka'bah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted my shoulders and then said to me, "Lift me up." I lifted him up, but when he saw that I was weak in standing while carrying him, he said, "Sit down." So I sat down, and he descended from above me. Then he sat down for me and said, "O Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)! Mount my shoulders." So I mounted his shoulders, and then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted me up towards the top. When he lifted me up, I felt as if, if I wished, I could reach the horizon of the sky with my hand. Then I climbed onto the roof of the Ka'bah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) moved aside and instructed me, "Throw down the largest idol among those present above, which belongs to the Quraysh." And that idol was made of copper and was fixed to the roof with iron nails. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me, "Shake it." So I began to shake it, and he kept telling me, "Shake it more, shake it more." So I kept shaking it until the idol came under my control. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Throw it down." So I threw that idol down, and then I (myself) came down as well.

So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) overturned those idols face down. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon and said: "Beware! Makkah is a sanctuary (sacred) forever until the Day of Resurrection. Before me, this land was not made lawful for anyone, nor will it be made lawful for anyone after me. However, it has been made lawful for me for a part of a day. The grass of this area (Makkah) shall not be cut, its game shall not be frightened away, its trees shall not be cut, and nothing dropped in it shall be picked up except by one who intends to announce it." (Upon hearing this) Hazrat Abbas stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Please make an exception for Idhkhir (a type of grass) for our blacksmiths, houses, and graves. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes, Idhkhir is excepted. Yes, Idhkhir is excepted.
