A companion of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bishr bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) to make this announcement: Beware! Only a believer will enter Paradise, and these are days of eating and drinking. By this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant the days of Tashreeq.

Sayyida Laila, the wife of Bashir, says that Sayyiduna Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): I will fast on Friday and will not speak to anyone on that day, (is this permissible)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not fast only on Friday, unless you are also fasting on other days or as a habit in the month, and Friday happens to be one of those days. As for your remaining silent, by my life! Speaking to enjoin good and forbid evil is better than remaining silent.
