Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives; I maintain ties with them but they sever ties with me, I forgive them but they wrong me, and I do good to them but they treat me badly. Can I then repay them for these actions? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, then you would all be left alone. You should continue to perform the virtuous deed and maintain ties with them. Indeed, as long as you remain upon this routine, there will be a helper from Allah Almighty with you.

Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives; I maintain ties with them, but they sever relations with me. I do good to them, but they treat me badly, and I deal with them patiently, but they act ignorantly towards me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If it is as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and as long as you remain steadfast in this action, there will be a helper from Allah Almighty with you against their opposition.

Narrated by Sayyiduna Malik bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever includes an orphan, who has lost both parents, in his own food and drink until that orphan becomes independent, then Paradise is absolutely obligatory for such a person. And whoever frees a Muslim slave, it will be a cause for his freedom from Hell; every limb of that slave will suffice for every limb of the one who freed him from the Fire.
