Ali bin Utham narrates: I came to Sa’eer bin Khums to ask him about the hadith regarding waswasah (whispers), but he did not narrate that hadith to me. I returned weeping. Then I met him again, and he said: Come forward. Mughira, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, from our master Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrated this statement: We asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about a person who finds something (i.e., experiences waswasah or negative thoughts) such that if he were to fall from the sky and birds were to snatch him away, this would be more beloved to him than to speak about that (waswasah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“This is clear faith.”

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me and instructed: "Announce among the people that whoever testifies that there is no deity except Allah will enter Paradise." Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) set out, and on the way, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) met him and asked: Where are you going? I replied: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent me with this message. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Go back! I did not accept what he said, so he struck my chest, and I felt its pain. I returned, for I had no other choice. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Did you send him with such and such a message? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Upon hearing this good news, (people) will rely on the hope of Paradise. And they will fear (in the footnote it is clarified, here the word is incorrectly transmitted. The actual word is: they will become corrupt). So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to Sayyiduna Jabir): Sit down.

At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting among the people, reclining. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah (knows), yes. He asked: I ask you by Allah, has Allah commanded you that you should take zakat from our wealthy and distribute it among our poor? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah (knows), yes! That man said: I believe in what you have brought, and I am the representative of my people who are behind me. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were forbidden from asking the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about anything. So we used to wish that a Bedouin would come to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and ask him a question, so we could listen to it. Once, a Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: O Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), your messenger came to us. He said: You say that Allah Almighty has sent you. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: He spoke the truth. The man asked: Who created the sky? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: Allah Almighty. He asked: Who created the earth? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: Allah Almighty. He asked: Who set up these mountains? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: Allah Almighty. He asked: Who placed benefits in them? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: Allah Almighty. He said: Then by the One who created the heavens and the earth, and set up the mountains, and placed benefits in them, I ask you (by His name), did Allah Almighty send you? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: Yes. He said: Your messenger told us that it will be obligatory for us to pray five prayers (daily). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: He spoke the truth. He asked: By the One who sent you, did Allah Almighty command you this? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: Yes! He said: Your messenger told us that paying zakat from our wealth will be obligatory. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: He spoke the truth. The man said: By the One who sent you, did Allah Almighty command you this?
