Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives charity from pure earnings, even if it is equal to a single date, only pure things are presented before Allah Almighty. Allah takes it in His Hand of Power, turns it over, and then increases it for the giver, just as one of you raises and nurtures his young animal, until that (single date) becomes like a mountain."

Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed the women, giving them advice and admonition, and instructed them to fear Allah Almighty and to obey their husbands. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Some women among you will enter Paradise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought his fingers together and said: And some among you will become fuel for Hellfire. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spread his fingers apart. Then, perhaps a woman belonging to a certain tribe asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is the reason for this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You are ungrateful to your husbands, you curse frequently, and you are ungrateful for good.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go out on the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. He (peace be upon him) would perform two rak'ahs, then say salam, then face the people in the Eid ground and stand. Then he (peace be upon him) would sit and face the people and say to them: Give charity and alms. So most of the women would give their earrings and rings, etc., in charity. If the Prophet (peace be upon him) had to dispatch an expedition, he would discuss it; otherwise, he would return.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates regarding the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the women:“Give charity, for the majority of the inhabitants of Hell are from among you.”A woman who was not from a prominent family asked:“What is the reason for this?”(The narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words:)“Why?”The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“You frequently curse and are ungrateful to your husbands.”Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says:“Women, despite being deficient in intellect and religion, often prevail over sensible men in matters.”It was asked:“What is the deficiency in their intellect and religion?”He replied:“As for their intellect, it is that the testimony of two women is equal to that of one man. As for the deficiency in their religion, it is that there are days in which a woman cannot perform even a single prayer.”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also proceeded towards the Eid prayer ground. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer, then while delivering the sermon, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! This is the day of giving charity, so give charity and alms. The narrator says: So someone took off his ring, someone took off his garment (i.e., an extra sheet). Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) kept collecting them, until when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that there was no one left who had anything to give, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) moved towards the women and said: O group of women, this is the day of giving charity, so give charity. So some woman took off her necklace, some took off her ring, some took off her anklets. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) kept collecting them, until when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) observed that there was no one left to give, Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) returned and we also returned.

Zaid bin Wahb narrates: Bearing witness in the name of Allah, I state this: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) saying this in Rabadhah: Once, I was walking with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the rocky area of Madinah at evening time. Mount Uhud came before us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Dharr! I do not like that I should have gold equal to Mount Uhud, and then by the third evening, even a single dinar from it remains with me, except for that dinar which I have kept aside for repaying a debt. Regarding this gold, I would keep saying about Allah’s servants: Give this much to him, give this much to him, meaning I would keep spending it in front of me, behind me, to my right, and to my left. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Dharr, those who possess abundance (of wealth and riches) in this world will be the ones with little (reward) on the Day of Judgment. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Remain in your place until I come to you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left, and then after the darkness of night had spread, he returned. I heard a sound, and I feared that perhaps some harm had come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I was about to set out, but then I remembered the instruction of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I remained seated in my place until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself came. I submitted to him: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! At first, I intended to come to you, but then I remembered your instruction. I had heard a sound. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That was Jibreel (peace be upon him); he came to me and informed me that any person from my Ummah who dies in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Allah will enter Paradise. I asked: Even if he commits adultery or steals? He said: Even if he commits adultery or steals. The narrator named Jarir says: This same narration, with another chain, is also transmitted from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a similar manner. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): There are two clarifications hidden in this narration. One of them is: Whoever dies in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Allah Almighty will enter Paradise, if Allah Almighty, by His grace, forgives the sins he committed in the world. The reason is: A person in this world inevitably commits some forbidden act, so this condition will be hidden in the narration. And the second condition is: If a person dies in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Allah, he will enter Paradise. This means: Allah Almighty will punish him in Hell for some time. We seek refuge with Allah from Hell. This will happen if Allah Almighty does not forgive him by His grace. The reason for this is so that only those people remain in Hell who associated others with Him in the world. So both these conditions are hidden in this narration. It does not mean that every person who dies in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Allah will necessarily enter Paradise.

Mutarrif bin Abdullah narrates from his father: I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while he was reciting this verse: "Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The son of Adam says, "My wealth, my wealth," although your wealth is only that which you consume and finish, or that which you wear and wear out, or that which you give in charity and send ahead.
