It is narrated from Sayyiduna Utbah bin Azwan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a large rock is thrown from the edge of Hell, it will keep falling for seventy years before it reaches its bottom."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a stone is thrown into Hell, it will keep falling for seventy years to reach its lowest depth."

Imam Mujahid narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me: Do you know the vastness of Hell? I said: No. He said: Yes, by Allah! You really do not know. (Listen! The distance) between the earlobe and the shoulder of a dweller of Hell will be a journey of seventy years, and there will be valleys of pus and blood flowing there. I said: Rivers will be flowing? He said: Not rivers, valleys. Then he said: Do you know the vastness of Hell? I said: No. He said: Yes, by Allah! Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to me that she asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this verse: «وَالْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ بِيَمِينِهِ» (39-az-Zumar:67) "And the whole earth will be in His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and all the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand." She asked: O Messenger of Allah! (When this will be the state of the earth and the heavens) where will the people be at that time? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At that time, they will be on the bridge of Hell (i.e., the bridge of Sirat)."

Qais bin ‘Abad says: We asked Sayyiduna ‘Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him): What is your opinion about this battle? Is it the result of your own judgment, in which there is a possibility of being right or wrong, or did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) give you any specific instruction regarding this? He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not give us any specific advice; he only said:“There will be twelve hypocrites in my Ummah. They will not enter Paradise, nor will they smell its fragrance, until a camel enters through the eye of a needle. For eight of them, a great calamity (a boil or swelling) will be enough, that is, a flame of fire will appear on their shoulders (penetrate inside) and will emerge from their chests.”

The companion of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Harith bin Jaz’ Zubaidi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“In Hell there are snakes like the necks of Bactrian camels; when they bite, the pain of their venom is felt for forty years. And there are (very large) scorpions like saddled mules; when they sting, the effect of their venom is felt for forty years.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The Fire will burn some of the people of Hell up to their ankles, some up to their knees, some up to their waists, and some up to their necks."

Amr bin Maymun Awdi says that among us, Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: "O Banu Awad! I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Do you know that we have to return to Allah Almighty, then either to Paradise or to Hell. That is such a (permanent) abode from which there will be no departure, it is such an eternity in which there will be no death, and there will be such bodies there that will never die.'"

Sayyiduna Utbah bin Salma رضي الله عنه says that I heard the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: "Paradise has eight gates, while Hell has seven."

Abdul Aziz bin Mukhtar bin Abdullah Danaj says that I was sitting with Abu Salma bin Abdur Rahman in a mosque during the time of Khalid bin Abdullah bin Khalid bin Asid. Hasan also came and sat down; we continued talking. During the conversation, Abu Salma said: "Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'On the Day of Resurrection, both the sun and the moon will be wrapped up in Hell, and their color will be red.'" Hasan said: "What is their sin?" Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I am narrating to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Upon hearing this, Hasan became silent.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are two types of people among the inhabitants of Hell whom I have not yet seen: (1) People who have whips like the tails of cattle, with which they beat the people. And (2) women who, though clothed, will be naked, who will attract others towards themselves and will themselves be inclined towards them, their heads will be like the humps of Bactrian camels. Such women will neither enter Paradise nor smell its fragrance, even though its fragrance can be perceived from a great distance."
