It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not boast about your ancestors who died in the time of ignorance. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, the dust that falls into the nostrils of a Muslim is better than your ancestors who died in the time of ignorance."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been granted five such distinctions which were not given to anyone before me, and I do not say this out of pride: I have been sent to every red and black (i.e., to all mankind), I have been helped by awe (cast into the hearts of my enemies) from a distance of one month's journey, spoils of war have been made lawful for me whereas they were not made lawful for anyone before me, the entire earth has been made a place of prostration and a means of purification for me, and I have been granted the right of intercession which I have deferred for my Ummah until the Day of Resurrection, and it is for everyone who does not associate anything with Allah."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards the mountain of Uhud and said: "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I do not like that the mountain of Uhud be turned into gold for the family of Muhammad, and that I keep spending from it in the way of Allah, and when I die, even two dinars remain with me, except for those two dinars which I keep aside for the repayment of a debt, if there is any debt." Thus, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he did not leave behind any dinar or dirham, nor any slave or slave-girl, but his armor was held as collateral with a Jew, against which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had taken thirty sa’ of barley.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the presence of the Messenger of Allah. He saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting on a mat, and its marks had appeared on his blessed side. He said, "O Messenger of Allah! If you had a softer bed made from this, how good it would be!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "What do I have to do with the world? My example and the example of the world is like that of a rider who travels all day in the summer, and for a short while takes shade under a tree, then leaves it and moves on."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Qunoot Nazilah continuously for a whole month in the prayers of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr. At the end of every prayer, after raising his head from the bowing (ruku) of the second rak'ah and saying «سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ» , he would supplicate against a tribe of Banu Sulaym, Ri'l, Dhakwan, 'Usayyah, and those who gave them refuge. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had sent his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to these tribes to invite them to Islam, but these people martyred them.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: «اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّتِكَ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَنْ تُضِلَّنِي أَنْتَ الْحَيُّ الَّذِي لَا تَمُوتُ وَالْجِنُّ وَالْإِنْسُ يَمُوتُونَ» "O Allah!
