On Weeping from the Fear of Allah

٣٨٣٧٠ - حدثنا ابن يمان عن سفيان عن عطاء بن السائب عن سعيد بن جبير او عن الحسن في قوله تعالى: ﴿لا يحزنهم الفزع الاكبر﴾ [الانبياء: ١٠٣]، قال: إذا اطبقت النار عليهم.
It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah be pleased with him) or Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the explanation of Allah's statement { لاَ یَحْزُنُہُمَ الْفَزَعُ الأَکْبَرُ } that when they will be covered by the Fire.

٣٨٣٧١ - حدثنا قبيصة قال: حدثنا سفيان عن ابي بكر الزبيدي عن ابيه قال: ما رايت حيا اكثر جلوسا في المساجد من الثوريين والعرنيين.
Hazrat Abu Bakr Zubaidi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that I have not seen any living person who stayed in the mosque more than the Thawriyyin and the Uraniyyin.

٣٨٣٧٢ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن ابي الاشهب قال: قال الحسن: يا ابن آدم تبصر القذى في عين اخيك، وتدع (الجذل) (١) معترضا في عينك.

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) says: O son of Adam! You see the speck in your brother’s eye, but you overlook the beam in your own eye.

٣٨٣٧٣ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن ابي الاشهب عن الحسن قال: كانوا يقولون: إن لسان الحكيم من وراء قلبه، فإذا اراد ان يقول رجع إلى قلبه، فإن كان له: قال، ⦗٨٨⦘ وإن كان عليه: امسك، وإن الجاهل قلبه في طرف لسانه لا يرجع إلى (قلبه) (١)، ما (اتى) (٢) على لسانه (تكلم) (٣) به.

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It is said by people that the tongue of a wise person is behind his heart. When he intends to speak, he asks his heart. If there is benefit in it, he says it; and if there is harm, he remains silent. And the heart of an ignorant person is on one side of his tongue; he does not ask his heart and says whatever comes to his mouth.

٣٨٣٧٤ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن ابي الاشهب عن الحسن قال: قال ابو الدرداء: من يتبع نفسه كل ما يرى في الناس يطل حزنه ولا يشف غيظه (١).

(١) منقطع؛ الحسن لم يدرك أبا الدرداء، أخرجه أحمد في الزهد ص ١٤٢، وهناد (٥٩٩)، وأبو نعيم في الحلية ١/ ٢١١، وابن أبي الدنيا في مداراة الناس (٢٧)، والبيهقي في الشعب (٨٣٣٧).
Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) says that whoever lets his soul pursue the things that people possess, his sorrow increases and his anger does not diminish.

٣٨٣٧٥ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن (١) سفيان عن ابي حمزة قال: قلت لإبراهيم: إن فرقد السبخي لا ياكل اللحم ولا ياكل كذا، فقال: كان اصحاب محمد ﷺ خيرا منه، كانوا ياكلون اللحم والسمن وكذا وكذا.

Hazrat Abu Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that I said to Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him), "Farqad al-Sabakhi neither eats meat nor such-and-such things." So he replied, "The companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) were better than him, and they used to eat meat, ghee, and likewise such-and-such things."

٣٨٣٧٦ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن ابي الاشهب عن الحسن قال: يا ابن آدم إنك لن تؤاخذ إلا بما ركبت على عمد.
Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O son of Adam! You will only be held accountable for the deed which you have committed intentionally.

٣٨٣٧٧ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن ابي الاشهب عن الحسن قال: كان اهل قرية اوسع الله عليهم حتى (١) كانوا يستنجون بالخبز، فبعث الله عليهم الجوع حتى انهم كانوا ياكلون ما يقعدون به (٢).

(٢) أي: الغائط، انظر: إصلاح الحال لابن أبي الدنيا (٣٤٣، ٣٤٦).
Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Allah Almighty bestowed abundance upon the people of a certain town to such an extent that they began to use bread for istinja'. Then Allah Almighty afflicted them with hunger until they began to eat that which they used to discard.

٣٨٣٧٨ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن ابي الاشهب عن الحسن قال: كان رجل يكثر غشيان باب (عمر) (١)، قال: فقال له عمر: اذهب فتعلم كتاب الله ⦗٨٩⦘ (تعالى) (٢)، قال: فذهب الرجل ففقده عمر، ثم لقيه (لقاءة) (٣) فكانه عاتبه فقال: وجدت في كتاب الله ما اغناني عن باب (عمر) (٤) (٥).

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man used to frequently come to the door of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). So Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "Go and learn the Book of Allah." Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the man went away and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) lost track of him. Then, once, that man met Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to scold him. The man replied, "I have found in the Book of Allah that which has made me independent of coming to the door of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)."

٣٨٣٧٩ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن ابي الاشهب عن (الحسن) (١) قال: لا يزال العبد بخير ما لم يصب كبيرة تفسد عليه قلبه وعقله.

Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A person always remains in goodness as long as he does not commit such a major sin that corrupts his mind and heart. And Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) also said: Faith is indeed faith! Because when a person is a believer, there are intercessors for him with Allah whose intercession is accepted.
