Hadith of Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 22662
It is narrated from Hazrat Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we set out with the intention of performing Hajj. When we reached the place of Arj, we saw a snake writhing and shortly thereafter it died. A man took a cloth from his belongings, wrapped the snake in it, dug the ground, and buried it. When we reached Makkah Mukarramah, we were in Masjid al-Haram when a man came to us and stopped, saying, "Who among you is the companion of Amr bin Jabir?" We said, "We do not know." Then he asked, "Who is the one who shrouded and buried that snake?" People pointed towards that man. He said, "May Allah reward you with goodness. He was the last to die among the nine men who came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to listen to the Holy Qur'an."

It is narrated from Hazrat Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, and at night I had the opportunity to observe the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Isha prayer and then slept. He woke up at midnight, recited the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran, used the miswak, performed ablution, and stood up to pray two rak'ahs. Now I do not know whether the standing (qiyam) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was longer or the bowing and prostration. Then he slept again, woke up after a short while, and repeated the same actions, and continued in this manner until he had performed eleven rak'ahs.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) that once it was raining and dark, and we were waiting for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for prayer. In the meantime, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and took hold of my hand and said, "Say." I remained silent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said again, so I asked, "What should I say?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Recite 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas) three times in the morning and evening. This will suffice you for every day, twice a day."

It is narrated from Hazrat Harith bin Aqeesh (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with Hazrat Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) at night. He narrated a hadith from the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: "If four minor children of two Muslims (husband and wife) die, Allah will, by His grace and mercy, admit them into Paradise." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What if there are three children?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The same ruling applies." The companions asked, "What if there are two children?" He replied, "The same ruling applies." And in my Ummah, there will be a man for whom the Fire will be spread out so much that he will become one of its corners, and in my Ummah, there will be a man by whose intercession as many people as the tribe of Mudar will enter Paradise.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take this from me, take this from me. Allah Almighty has set a way for women: if an unmarried man commits fornication with an unmarried woman, he should be given a hundred lashes and exiled for one year. And if a married man commits fornication with a married woman, he should be given a hundred lashes and also stoned to death."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out of his house to inform us about the Night of Qadr. Two men were arguing with each other. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I came out to inform you about the Night of Qadr, but two men were arguing with each other, so its exact determination was taken away because of that. It is possible that this is better for you. Seek the Night of Qadr in the ninth, seventh, and fifth nights (of the last ten days).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a pledge from us on six things just as he took from women: that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, you will not commit adultery, you will not kill your children, you will not slander one another, and you will not disobey me in any good matter. Whoever among you commits a punishable offense with a woman and receives its immediate punishment, then that will be his atonement. But if he is given respite, then his matter is with Allah; if He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will forgive him.

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you do not do so, there is no sin upon you, except that you must recite Surah Al-Fatihah, for without it, the prayer is not valid."
