بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الِانْتِعَالِ
Chapter on What is Reported Regarding Wearing Footwear
Hadith Number: 1660
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن ابي الزناد ، عن الاعرج ، عن ابي هريرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " إذا انتعل احدكم فليبدا باليمين، وإذا نزع فليبدا بالشمال، ولتكن اليمنى اولهما تنعل وآخرهما تنزع"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When any of you puts on shoes, he should begin with the right foot, and when he takes them off, he should take off the left foot first, so that the right foot is the first when putting on and the last when taking off."

Hadith Number: 1661
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن عمه ابي سهيل بن مالك ، عن ابيه ، عن كعب الاحبار : ان رجلا نزع نعليه، فقال: " لم خلعت نعليك؟ لعلك تاولت هذه الآية: فاخلع نعليك إنك بالواد المقدس طوى سورة طه آية 12"، قال: ثم قال كعب للرجل:" اتدري ما كانت نعلا موسى؟"
قال مالك: لا ادري ما اجابه الرجل، فقال كعب:" كانتا من جلد حمار ميت"
قال مالك: لا ادري ما اجابه الرجل، فقال كعب:" كانتا من جلد حمار ميت"
It is narrated from Ka'b al-Ahbar that a man took off his shoes. Ka'b al-Ahbar said: Why did you take off your shoes? Perhaps you took them off after seeing this verse, when Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, said to Musa (peace be upon him) as he was going to the Mount: «﴿فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ﴾» "Take off your shoes." But do you know what Musa's (peace be upon him) shoes were made of?
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I do not know what the man replied. Ka'b said: The shoes of Musa (peace be upon him) were made from the skin of a dead donkey.

Chapter on What is Reported Regarding Wearing Clothes
Hadith Number: 1662
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن ابي الزناد ، عن الاعرج ، عن ابي هريرة ، انه قال:" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن لبستين وعن بيعتين: عن الملامسة، وعن المنابذة، وعن ان يحتبي الرجل في ثوب واحد ليس على فرجه منه شيء، وعن ان يشتمل الرجل بالثوب الواحد على احد شقيه"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade two types of clothing, and two types of sales: one is the sale of Mulamasa, and the other is the sale of Munabadhah; and from wrapping oneself with a single garment in the manner of ihtiba’ when there is no cloth covering his private parts; and from wrapping a single garment around the whole body.

Hadith Number: 1663
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن نافع ، عن عبد الله بن عمر ، ان عمر بن الخطاب راى حلة سيراء تباع عند باب المسجد، فقال: يا رسول الله، لو اشتريت هذه الحلة فلبستها يوم الجمعة وللوفد إذا قدموا عليك، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" إنما يلبس هذه من لا خلاق له في الآخرة"، ثم جاء رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم منها حلل، فاعطى عمر بن الخطاب منها حلة، فقال عمر: يا رسول الله اكسوتنيها، وقد قلت في حلة عطارد ما قلت؟ فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" لم اكسكها لتلبسها"، فكساها عمر اخا له مشركا بمكة
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a silk cloth being sold at the door of the mosque. He said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "If only you would buy this and wear it on Fridays and on the days when delegations come to you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This cloth will be worn by the one who has no share in the Hereafter." Then some cloths of the same kind came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he gave one of those cloths to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Earlier you had said about the cloth of ‘Atarid (the name of a person, son of Hajib) that it will be worn by the one who has no share in the Hereafter?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I did not give it to you to wear." Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave that cloth to his non-Muslim brother (Uthman bin Hakim) who was in Makkah.

Hadith Number: 1664
وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن إسحاق بن عبد الله بن ابي طلحة ، انه قال: قال انس بن مالك :" رايت عمر بن الخطاب وهو يومئذ امير المدينة، وقد رقع بين كتفيه برقاع ثلاث لبد بعضها فوق بعض"
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was the Commander of the Faithful, and there were three patches on his shirt between his two shoulders, one on top of the other.

Chapter on What is Reported Regarding the Description of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 1665
حدثني، عن مالك، عن ربيعة بن ابي عبد الرحمن ، عن انس بن مالك ، انه سمعه يقول: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " ليس بالطويل البائن ولا بالقصير، وليس بالابيض الامهق ولا بالآدم، ولا بالجعد القطط ولا بالسبط، بعثه الله على راس اربعين سنة، فاقام بمكة عشر سنين وبالمدينة عشر سنين، وتوفاه الله عز وجل على راس ستين سنة وليس في راسه ولحيته عشرون شعرة بيضاء صلى الله عليه وسلم"
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was neither very tall nor short, neither white like lime nor very wheat-colored, and his hair, peace and blessings be upon him, was neither very curly nor very straight. When he, peace and blessings be upon him, reached the age of forty, Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, granted him prophethood. After prophethood, he, peace and blessings be upon him, stayed in Makkah for ten years and in Madinah for ten years, and he, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away at the age of sixty. At that time, there were not even twenty white hairs on his, peace and blessings be upon him, head and beard.

Chapter on What is Reported Regarding the Description of Jesus Son of Mary (peace be upon him) and the Dajjal
Hadith Number: 1666
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن نافع ، عن عبد الله بن عمر ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " اراني الليلة عند الكعبة فرايت رجلا آدم كاحسن ما انت راء من ادم الرجال، له لمة كاحسن ما انت راء من اللمم قد رجلها فهي تقطر ماء متكئا على رجلين او على عواتق رجلين يطوف بالكعبة، فسالت: من هذا؟ قيل: هذا المسيح ابن مريم، ثم إذا انا برجل جعد قطط اعور العين اليمنى كانها عنبة طافية، فسالت: من هذا؟ فقيل لي: هذا المسيح الدجال"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One night in a dream, I found myself at the Ka'bah. I saw a man of wheat-colored complexion, such as you have seen among the best of those with wheat-colored skin. He had hair reaching his shoulders, as you have seen among the best of those with shoulder-length hair. He had combed his hair, and water was dripping from it. He was reclining on two men," or he said, "reclining on the shoulders of two men. That same person was performing tawaf of the House of Allah. So I asked: Who is this man? Someone said to me: This is the Messiah, the son of Mary. Then suddenly I saw another man, with very curly hair, blind in the right eye. His blind eye was like a swollen grape. So I asked: Who is this man? Someone said to me: This is the Messiah Dajjal."

Chapter on What is Reported Regarding Sunnah of Fitrah (Natural Disposition)
Hadith Number: 1667
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن سعيد بن ابي سعيد المقبري ، عن ابيه ، عن ابي هريرة ، قال: " خمس من الفطرة: تقليم الاظفار، وقص الشارب، ونتف الإبط، وحلق العانة، والاختتان"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that five things are from the natural Sunnah: cutting the nails, trimming the moustache, plucking the hair of the armpits, shaving the hair below the navel, and circumcision.

Hadith Number: 1668
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن يحيى بن سعيد ، عن سعيد بن المسيب ، انه قال: " كان إبراهيم صلى الله عليه وسلم اول الناس ضيف الضيف، واول الناس اختتن، واول الناس قص الشارب، واول الناس راى الشيب، فقال: يا رب ما هذا؟ فقال الله تبارك وتعالى: وقار يا إبراهيم، فقال: يا رب زدني وقارا" .
Said al-Musayyib that it was Ibrahim (peace be upon him) who first hosted a guest, and he was the first to perform circumcision, and the first to trim the mustache, and the first to see a white hair and say: "O Lord! What is this?" Allah, Glorious and Exalted, said: "This is dignity and respect." Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: "So O Lord! Increase me in dignity."

Hadith Number: 1668B1
قال يحيى: وسمعت مالكا، يقول: يؤخذ من الشارب حتى يبدو طرف الشفة وهو الإطار، ولا يجزه فيمثل بنفسه
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that the moustache should be trimmed so much that the edges of the lips become visible, but it should not be trimmed off completely.
