And the mention of recording a good deed, raising a rank, and removing a sin from the one performing tawaf with every step he lifts or sets down during his circumambulation, and granting the one performing tawaf, for counting a week of tawaf, the reward of freeing a slave, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made the one who completes a single week of tawaf like one who frees a slave.

It is narrated from Ubaid bin Umair that he said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): "You push through people and enter the crowd to touch the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner. (What is the reason for making such a strong effort?)" He replied, "If I do this, (the reason is that) I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Sins are forgiven by touching these two.' And I heard him say: 'For every step a person takes while performing Tawaf of the Sacred House, Allah writes a good deed for him, erases a sin, and raises him one degree.' And I heard him say: 'Whoever completes seven circuits, it is as if he has freed a slave in reward.' In the narration of Yusuf, it is mentioned: 'And one degree is raised for him.'"

Junaid Ja'far narrates that my father narrated to me, he says that we presented ourselves before Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them), so we asked him about the Hajj of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he narrated the complete hadith and said that when you finished the Tawaf, you came to Maqam Ibrahim and performed two rak'ahs behind it. And you recited this verse «‏‏‏‏وَاتَّخِذُوا مِن مَّقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى» ‏‏‏‏ [ سورة البقرة: 125 ] "And take the Maqam Ibrahim as a place of prayer." In these two rak'ahs, you recited the surahs «‏‏‏‏قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ» ‏‏‏‏ and «‏‏‏‏قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ» ‏‏‏‏.

A detailed narration regarding the Hajj of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is reported from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both). He says: Then the Prophet performed ramal (brisk walking) in three circuits and walked normally in four circuits. Then he came to the Station of Ibrahim, then recited this verse «‏‏‏‏وَاتَّخِذُوا مِن مَّقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى» ‏‏‏‏ [ سورة البقرة: 125 ] "And take the Station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer." The Prophet (peace be upon him) placed the Station of Ibrahim between himself and the door of the Sacred House (Ka'bah) while praying. When he finished the prayer, he came to the Sacred House and kissed the Black Stone. Then he narrated the rest of the hadith.

And to ascend the mountains of Safa and Marwah to such an extent that the Ka'bah becomes visible. One should ascend the mountain of Safa before Marwah because Allah Almighty has mentioned the mountain of Safa first (in the Holy Qur'an) and mentioned Marwah afterwards. The Prophet Mustafa (peace be upon him), who clarified the command of Allah Almighty, has ordered that (the beginning of Sa'i) should be from Safa, which Allah Almighty has mentioned first in the Holy Qur'an.

It is narrated from the noble father of Hazrat Ja'far, Hazrat Muhammad, who says: We went to the service of Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) and we asked him about the manner of the Hajj of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Then he narrated a part of the hadith, then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) returned to the Black Stone, touched it, and proceeded towards the hill of Safa. And he said: "I begin (the Sa'i) from the hill from which Allah Almighty has begun." And he recited this verse «‏‏‏‏إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ» ‏‏‏‏ [ سورة البقرة: 108 ] "Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah." Then he ascended Safa until the House of Allah became visible, and upon seeing the House of Allah, he recited «‏‏‏‏اللهُ أَكْبَرُ» ‏‏‏‏ three times and made this supplication «‏‏‏‏لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ أَنْجَزَ وَعْدَهُ وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ وَغَلَبَ الْأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ» ‏‏‏‏ "There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion, all praise is for Him, and He is over all things competent. There is no true deity except Allah, He fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and alone defeated all the armies." Then he repeated this supplication three times (and made other supplications). Then he descended until when his blessed feet reached the middle of the valley, he ran. When he began to ascend (Marwah), he walked at a normal pace. Then he reached Marwah and ascended it, and when the House of Allah came into view, he recited «‏‏‏‏اللهُ أَكْبَرُ» ‏‏‏‏ and made the same supplications as he had made on the hill of Safa.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Rabah narrates that during the blessed month of Ramadan, some delegates set out to present themselves before Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him); I and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) were with them. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a lengthy hadith about the conquest of Makkah. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O group of Ansar, shall I not tell you one of your own stories?" Then he described the events of the conquest of Makkah. And he said that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived, he entered Makkah Mukarramah. Then he narrated the complete hadith. And he narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to the Black Stone and touched it, and performed the circumambulation (tawaf) of the Sacred House; in his hand was a bow, and he was holding its curved end. During his circumambulation, he came to an idol which the polytheists used to worship. It was beside the House of Allah. He began to strike its eyes with the bow and said: "Truth has come and falsehood has vanished." Then he came towards the hill of Safa and ascended so high that the House of Allah became visible from there; he raised his hands and began to mention Allah, mentioning whatever Allah willed, and supplicated to Him. The Ansari Companions were below him, then he narrated the rest of the hadith. In the chain of narration from Rabi’ bin Sulayman, these words are reported: "So he raised his hands and praised and glorified Allah, and supplicated to Allah according to what Allah willed."
