Junaid Ja'far narrates from his father that we came to Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) and I said, "Tell us about the Hajj of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)." He narrated the hadith, saying: The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to Arafat riding on his she-camel Qaswa, and he turned the belly (direction) of his camel towards the rocks of the mountain of Rahmah, and kept the sandy path where people walk in front of him, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) faced the Qiblah. He (peace be upon him) stayed there until evening, until the sun set, the yellow color diminished, and the disk of the sun had completely set.

It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Fadl bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the day of Arafah, some of the companions differed in her presence regarding whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was fasting or not. Some said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was fasting, and others said that he was not fasting. So Sayyida Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her) sent a bowl of milk to him while he was seated on his camel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank the milk, and he was in the plain of Arafat on that day.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that we were in Arafat with Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), so he said to me, "O Saeed, what is the reason that I do not hear the voices of people reciting Talbiyah?" I replied, "They are afraid of Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him)." Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) then came out of his tent and began to say «‏‏‏‏لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ» ‏‏‏‏ "O Allah, I am present, O Allah, I am present in Your court." These people have abandoned the Sunnah of reciting Talbiyah due to enmity with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Ahadith of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he continued to recite Talbiyah until he stoned Jamrah Aqabah are proof that he used to recite Talbiyah in the plain of Arafat.

Hazrat Ibn Rafi’ narrates that Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Muzdalifah (towards Mina), I was riding behind him on the she-camel. A Bedouin was walking alongside you and asking you questions about religious matters. Behind him, his beautiful daughter was riding. Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I began to look at that girl, so the Messenger of Allah turned my face away with his hand. Then, you continued to recite the Talbiyah until you reached Jamrat al-‘Aqabah and performed the stoning. In the narration of Ibn Rafi’, it is mentioned that the Bedouin was walking alongside you or was asking you questions. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that it is narrated from Sakeen bin Abdul Aziz Basri, while I am free from responsibility for him and his father. He says that I heard my father say that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated to me that Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of ‘Arafah, so Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) began to look at the women, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to turn Sayyiduna Fadl’s (may Allah be pleased with him) face away from behind him with his blessed hand, but Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) (on the other side) began to look at the women. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“O my nephew, indeed, whoever on this day guards his ears, eyes, and tongue, his sins will be forgiven.”
