Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I returned from Arafat with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). When he reached the valley where the leaders and rulers descend, he dismounted there, urinated, and performed ablution. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you wish to pray?" He replied, "We will perform the prayer ahead." Then when he reached Muzdalifah, he had the call to prayer (adhan) given, and the iqamah was pronounced, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) performed the Maghrib prayer. Then, before the people had even untied their mounts, the iqamah was pronounced again and he led the 'Isha prayer. There is also a narration from Jabir bin Muhammad regarding this issue.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) departed from Arafat and seated Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him (on his mount). Then, when he reached the pass, he dismounted and urinated. And these words were not said that he relieved himself with water. Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I poured water for him from a vessel, so he performed a light ablution. I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), do you intend to pray?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "We will pray ahead." Then he came to Muzdalifah and performed the Maghrib prayer, then he unloaded the saddle and such from his mount and untied it, then performed the Isha prayer. Imam Sufyan says that Ibrahim's narration ends at these words: "We will pray ahead." The remaining addition is from the narration of Ibn Abi Harmalah.

Abdur Rahman bin Yazid narrates that Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from Arafat with great calm and tranquility. He did not urge his camel forward (to make it go faster) until he reached Muzdalifah. He dismounted, had the adhan called, and after the iqamah was pronounced, he performed the Maghrib prayer. Then he ate his dinner, then stood up, had the adhan called, the takbir was said, and he performed the 'Isha prayer. Then he spent the night at Muzdalifah. When dawn broke, he had the adhan called and the iqamah was pronounced, then he led the morning prayer. Then he said: "These two prayers are performed delayed from their (usual) time." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform these two prayers in this place on this day in this manner, with delay. Then he stayed there. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) did not attribute the act of eating dinner between the two prayers to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), rather this was his own personal action; it was not the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hazrat Ja'far bin Muhammad narrates from his noble father, who says that we presented ourselves before Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), so I requested him to tell me about the Hajj of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He said that when you (the Prophet) came to Muzdalifah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) combined the Maghrib and Isha prayers with one adhan and two iqamahs. Then, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lay down until the break of dawn.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a lengthy hadith about the Hajj of the Prophet (peace be upon him). In it, he said that when the morning appeared, the Prophet performed the Fajr prayer in Muzdalifah. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Muhammad bin Yahya narrated from Hasan bin Bishr, from Hatim, that in this hadith at this place, these words are mentioned: that (the prayer was performed) with adhan and iqamah. In the narration of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), there is clear evidence that the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed the Fajr prayer in Muzdalifah after the appearance of dawn, at its earliest time, and did not perform it before the clear appearance of dawn. And in this, there is evidence regarding the statement of Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet performed the Fajr prayer before its time, in darkness; what he meant was that the Prophet performed the prayer in Muzdalifah earlier compared to other places. But the Prophet performed the Fajr prayer in Muzdalifah in more darkness compared to other places. In the next chapter, in the narration of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), there is also evidence similar to the narration of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), because in the narration of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), it is mentioned that the Prophet spent the night in Muzdalifah until, when morning came, he performed the Fajr prayer.

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when the camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would settle with him near the mosque of Dhu’l-Hulayfah, he would recite the Talbiyah. Then he narrated the rest of the hadith and said: He (peace be upon him) would spend the night at Muzdalifah until morning came, then he would perform the morning prayer. Then he would stop near al-Mash’ar al-Haram and the people would also stop with him; all of them would supplicate to Allah Almighty, remember Allah Almighty, recite «‏‏‏‏لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله» ‏‏‏‏, and continue to declare the greatness and majesty of Allah Almighty until they would set out towards Mina.
