Sayyiduna Bishr bin Qudamah al-Dhababi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that these two eyes of mine saw my beloved Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the plain of Arafat, mounted on his she-camel Qaswa. There was a very simple sheet beneath you, and you were supplicating «‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ حَجًّا غَيْرَ رِيَاءٍ وَلا هِيَاءٍ وَلا سُمْعَةِ‏» ‏‏‏‏ "O Allah, make this Hajj safe from show, ostentation, and fame."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed at Arafat, then after sunset he returned (to Muzdalifah). He had Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) riding behind him. Muhammad bin Ishaq narrates that the narration of Ja'far bin Muhammad from his father from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) is also related to this chapter.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that in the days of ignorance, people used to stay at Arafat until the sun would be on the tops of the mountains in such a way as turbans are on the heads of men, then they would return to Muzdalifah. Then they would stay at Muzdalifah until the sun would rise and be on the tops of the mountains like turbans on the heads of men, then they would return (to Mina). Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the departure from Arafat until sunset, then performed the morning prayer at Muzdalifah when dawn had broken, then departed for Mina in the last part before sunrise when everything had become bright. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I declare my disassociation from the responsibility of the narrator Zam’ah bin Salih.

The angels say, 'O Lord, among them is so-and-so who is arrogant, and among them is so-and-so who is sinful.' Allah Almighty will say, 'I have forgiven all of them.'
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) frequently recited this supplication on the evening of Arafat «‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَالَّذِي تَقُولُ وَخَيْرًا مِمَّا نَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صَلاَتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِي وَإِلَيْكَ مَآبِي وَلَكَ رَبِّ تُرَاثِي اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَوَسْوَسَةِ الصَّدْرِ وَشَتَاتِ الأَمْرِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَجِيءُ بِهِ الرِّيحُ» ‏‏‏‏:“O Allah, all praise is for You as You have described for Yourself, and the praise we express is less than and inferior to the praise You deserve. O Allah, my prayer is for You alone. My sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for You. To You alone is my return. O my Lord, my inheritance is for You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the whispers of the chest, and from the corruption and disorder of affairs. O Allah, I ask You for the good that the wind brings, and I seek refuge in You from the evil that the wind brings.”

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to teach and show Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) the rites of Hajj. He led him in the prayers of Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr in Mina. Then he went with him to Arafat and led him in the Zuhr and Asr prayers there, and kept him at the place of standing (wuquf) in Arafat until sunset. Then he departed with him, and led him in the Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers in Muzdalifah, and made him spend the night in Muzdalifah. Then (in the morning, after going to Mina) he stoned the Jamrah. After showing him all the rites, he said: "I‘rif al-aan" (Now recognize well). In the same way, Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) taught all the rites to the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as well.
