Hazrat Muhajir bin Ikrimah reports that we asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the person who, after completing his prayer and circumambulation, leaves Masjid al-Haram, and he faces the House of Allah (the Ka'bah) (and raises his hands). He replied that in my opinion, only the Jews do this act.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you is about to enter the mosque, he should send salutations upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and recite this supplication «‏‏‏‏اللّهُـمَّ افْتَـحْ لي أَبْوابَ رَحْمَتـِك» ‏‏‏‏ 'O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.' And when he is about to leave the mosque, he should send blessings and salutations upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and recite this supplication «‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِيْ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ» ‏‏‏‏ 'O Allah, protect me from the accursed devil.'"

A long hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his noble companions performed idtiba‘ (placing the upper garment under the right arm and over the left shoulder), and they performed ramal (brisk walking) in the first three circuits of tawaf, and walked at a normal pace in the remaining four.

Then that reason comes to an end, but the Sunnah of the Prophet remains until the Day of Judgment, because the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) initially performed ramal and idtiba‘ to show the strength and power of himself and his companions to the polytheists. (Then the polytheists in Makkah were eliminated), but both Sunnahs of ramal and idtiba‘ will remain until the Day of Judgment.

Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam narrates from his esteemed father that he said: I heard Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "Now, for what reason is there to perform ramal (walking briskly with shoulders uncovered) and to uncover the shoulders, when Allah Almighty has granted strength and power to Islam, and it has spread all around, and disbelief and disbelievers have been eradicated? However, even then, we will not abandon any such act which we used to do with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."

He said, "We set out (from Madinah Munawwarah) with the intention of only performing Hajj, until we reached the Sacred Ka'bah. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) kissed the Black Stone and then said: "Be aware! By Allah, I know well that you are only a stone (which has no power to benefit or harm), and if I had not seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kissing you, I would not have kissed you."
