(Here, the narrator is unsure about a word.) I present to you an example of this. Indeed, every king has a sanctuary, and the sanctuary of Allah is that which He has forbidden. So whoever grazes his animals around the sanctuary, it is possible that they may enter it. (At times, the narrator used these words:) Whoever grazes his animals around the sanctuary, eventually they begin to graze inside it. So whoever mingles with doubtful things, eventually he will cross into them.”

So Sayyiduna Imam Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Leave that which puts you in doubt and go towards that which does not put you in doubt." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "Goodness is tranquility and evil is doubt." (Sayyiduna Imam Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, also said) Once some dates of charity were presented to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). I took one of those dates and put it in my mouth. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) took that date, took its saliva, and put it back in the date. It was said to him: O Messenger of Allah! There is no harm to you regarding the date this child took. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Charity is not lawful for us, the family of Muhammad. (Sayyiduna Imam Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, also said) I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicating: "O Allah! Keep us steadfast on guidance among those whom You have guided! Grant us well-being among those whom You have granted well-being! Be our guardian among those whom You have taken as guardians! Bless for us what You have given us, and protect us from the evil of what You have decreed. Surely, You decree and none can decree against You. Whomever You take as a guardian cannot be disgraced. You are Blessed and Exalted."

Chapter on Scrupulousness and Reliance on Allah – On the narration indicating that one should not exchange matters of the Hereafter for worldly gains in times of hardship
Hadith Number: 723
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a Bedouin who honored him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said regarding him: Bring him to me. He came to your service, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him: Ask for your need. He said: I need a she-camel on which we can ride and some goats whose milk my family can milk. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Have you people become so incapable that you cannot even be like the old women of Bani Israel? The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What was the matter of the old women of Bani Israel? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) set out from Egypt with Bani Israel, they lost their way. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) asked: What is the reason for this? Their scholars informed him: When Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him) was near death, he took a firm covenant from us by Allah that when we leave Egypt, we will take his body with us. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) asked: Who knows the location of his grave? A person told him: An old woman from Bani Israel knows. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) called for that woman. She came to him. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) said: Guide me to the grave of Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him). The woman said: I will not do so until you give me my compensation. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) asked: What is your compensation? She replied: That I be with you in Paradise. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) did not like to say this to her, so Allah revealed to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) that give her what she is asking for. Then the woman took them to a place from where water was gushing forth. The woman said: Stop this water. They stopped the water. The woman said: Now open it. They opened it, and from there the bones of Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him) appeared. When they returned to that land, the path became as clear as daylight.

Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead the people in prayer, some people would fall down during the prayer due to the severity of hunger; these were the people of Suffa, to the extent that the Bedouins used to say: "These people are mad." When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer, he said: "If you people knew what reward and recompense you have in the presence of Allah Almighty, then you would wish that your hunger and starvation be increased." Sayyiduna Fadala (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On that day, I was also with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The hand of Allah is full; continuous spending during the night and day does not diminish it in any way. Have you not noticed that since the day He created the heavens and the earth, He has been spending, and what is in His hand has not decreased? While His other hand is the one that withholds; He grants elevation and abasement, and His Throne is upon the water." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) These narrations have been mentioned in this section in an absolute manner. Whoever does not have expertise in the science of hadith may fall into the misunderstanding that the great hadith scholars belong to the anthropomorphist sect, whereas we seek refuge with Allah from even the thought that any of the hadith scholars could have such an idea. But these narrations regarding the attributes of Allah have been transmitted in absolute terms with exemplary words, according to the common expressions of people. The nature of Allah's attributes has not been described in them. Our Lord is far above and exalted from being likened to anything from the creation, or from having the nature of any of His attributes described, for there is nothing like unto Him.
