Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I was sitting in the mosque. There was a group of poor emigrants sitting in a circle in the middle of the mosque. During this time, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque; it was around midday. He went to those people and sat with them. When I saw that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had sat with them, I got up and came to you, and I found this part of your conversation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Give glad tidings to the poor emigrants that they will enter Paradise forty years before the wealthy people."

Abdur Rahman bin Aban narrates from his father: Once, Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) came out from Marwan at noon, so I thought that he must have gone to him for some important matter that Marwan wanted to ask him about. I asked Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: He asked us about some things which we had heard from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). (Sayyiduna Zaid, may Allah be pleased with him, said) I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“May Allah make happy the one who hears a hadith from us and then conveys it to another, for sometimes the one who receives knowledge conveys it to someone more knowledgeable than himself, and sometimes the one who receives knowledge is not actually a scholar. There are three things about which a Muslim’s heart does not deceive: making deeds sincere for Allah, wishing well for the Muslim rulers, and sticking to their community, for their supplication encompasses those who are absent. Whoever’s intention is for the world, Allah will scatter his affairs and place poverty before his eyes, and he will get nothing from the world except what is written for him. And whoever’s intention is for the Hereafter, Allah will gather his affairs, place contentment in his heart, and the world will come to him humbled.”

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Dharr Ghifari! Do you think that having a lot of wealth is prosperity? I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then, do you think that having little wealth is poverty? I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: True prosperity is the prosperity of the heart, and true poverty is the poverty of the heart. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me about a man from the Quraysh. He said: Do you know so-and-so? I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is your opinion about him and how is he regarded? I said: When he asks for something, it is given to him; when he comes somewhere, he is allowed to enter. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me about a man from the people of Suffah and said: Do you know so-and-so? I said: No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah! I do not know him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to mention his lineage to me until I recognized him, so I said: O Messenger of Allah! Now I have recognized him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What is your opinion about him and how is he regarded? I said: He is a poor man from the people of Suffah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He (the poor man) is better than the earth full of people like the other (rich man). I said: O Messenger of Allah! That person was not given any share of what was given to the other. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If he has been given goodness, then he is more deserving of it, and if it has been withheld from him, then goodness has been granted to him.
